Kensington ErgoSoft Wrist Rest for Standard Keyboards — Black

Gel cushionedUltra-softErgonomist approved2-year term

Kensington’s ErgoSoft line puts a premium exterior supported by gel-cushioned padding, and makes the claim that matters about bare gel: this rest resists sticking to your skin and easily wipes clean. The shape is not styled but specified — designed with ergonomist input and approval to provide you with optimal health, comfort and protection through proper alignment, tailored dimensions, and a unique curve design, intended to minimize the impact of repetitive strain on your hands. Kensington calls the look functional and sophisticated low-profile elegance, and the non-skid rubber backing keeps the rest from slipping whether you are working or gaming. It also publishes a durability result: it meets MIL-STD-810H Method 504.3 Contamination by Fluids testing for resistance to breakdown when exposed to cleaning and disinfecting solvents such as alcohol and bleach for at least 24 hours. Kensington covers it with a limited 2-year warranty.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This is the version Kensington designates for a standard keyboard, and the range matters: it also makes ErgoSoft rests for slim and compact keyboards and for mechanical and gaming keyboards, each at a different height, plus separate ErgoSoft mouse pads. Ordering the wrong one is the common mistake — a rest for a mechanical board under a slim keyboard tilts your wrists upward. Tell us your keyboard and we will confirm the right one. The honest gap: Kensington publishes no dimensions, no height and no weight for this part number — the specification table on its page carries the features and the warranty and nothing else. We will not quote figures we cannot source; ask us and we will measure a unit. The MIL-STD result is about cleaning solvents, not spills soaking in, which is why these are specified for clinics and shared desks. There is no mouse rest in the box.

Best For

✓ Standard-height keyboards
✓ All-day typing in an office
✓ Clinics, labs and shared desks that get wiped down
✓ Anyone who finds bare gel clammy or sticky
✓ Gaming as well as work, per Kensington
✓ Sites that want a published manufacturer term

Key Features

Gel that does not cling
Kensington specifically claims the exterior resists sticking to your skin and wipes clean — the two complaints people have about uncovered gel rests.

Ergonomist approved, not styled
Alignment, dimensions and curve developed with ergonomist input to minimise the impact of repetitive strain, rather than shaped for looks.

Tested against solvents
MIL-STD-810H Method 504.3: alcohol and bleach for at least 24 hours without breaking down, which is what a disinfected desk demands.

Low profile with a grip
A deliberately low-profile shape on a non-skid rubber backing, so it neither raises the wrist nor wanders across the desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which ErgoSoft rest do I need?
This one is for a standard keyboard. Kensington makes separate versions for slim and compact keyboards and for mechanical and gaming keyboards, at different heights. Tell us your keyboard and we will confirm the right one before you order.
What size is it?
Kensington does not publish dimensions, height or weight for this part number. We will not quote figures we cannot source — ask us and we will measure a unit before you order.
What does the MIL-STD rating mean here?
It is a cleaning-fluid test: the surface withstands alcohol and bleach for at least 24 hours without breaking down. Useful on a desk that gets disinfected; it does not make the rest waterproof.
Singular Expert Insight
The ErgoSoft range is designed around keyboard height, and picking the version that matches your board is the whole decision — more than any surface claim. The solvent rating is what makes it viable on a clinical desk. See our keyboard accessories and our keyboards.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You use a standard-height keyboard, want gel support under a non-sticking cover, and your desk gets cleaned with solvents.

Skip it if

You use a slim or a mechanical keyboard, or you need published dimensions before ordering.

Also consider

The Kensington ErgoSoft rests for slim or for mechanical keyboards, or the Duo Gel rest if you want a ventilation channel.
