Kensington Simply Portable SP40 — 15.6″ Classic Laptop Case, Black
Fits laptops up to 15.6″Hard-wearing nylon toploaderDetachable padded shoulder strapLimited Lifetime Warranty
The Kensington Simply Portable SP40 Classic Laptop Case, part number K62563EU, is a plain black nylon toploader for laptops and ultrabooks up to 15.6 inches. It does one job properly: a padded computer compartment measuring 380 x 290 x 40 mm inside a 420 x 340 x 90 mm case, with organised accessory compartments, a zippered outer compartment with its own pockets, a padded handle and a detachable padded shoulder strap so you can keep your hands free. A roller bag attachment strap slides it onto the handle of wheeled luggage. Kensington backs it with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
One correction worth making: some catalogue entries still describe this case as 15.4-inch, which is the old widescreen format from when the SP40 launched. Kensington’s current specification rates the same K62563EU for devices up to 15.6″ / 39.6 cm, so a modern 15.6-inch laptop is the intended fit. Check your machine against the internal compartment of 380 x 290 x 40 mm rather than against the screen size, particularly the 40 mm of depth. Note that this is a toploader, not a clamshell — you load from the top rather than opening it flat, so it does not lay open at airport security. Kensington publishes no weight, no water-resistance claim and no tablet compartment for this case.
Best For
✓ Carrying a 15.6″ work laptop and its charger
✓ Office use where a backpack is the wrong look
✓ Anyone who wants a plain, unbranded black case
✓ Sliding a case onto rolling luggage for travel
✓ Buyers who value a lifetime warranty over extra features
✓ Keeping cables and accessories out of the laptop compartment
Key Features
Padded compartment sized to the millimetre
Kensington publishes the internal laptop compartment as 380 x 290 x 40 mm, so you can check your machine before ordering rather than guessing from a screen size. The compartment is padded to cushion the laptop in the case.
Hard-wearing nylon toploader
Kensington describes the construction simply as hard-wearing nylon, built to protect and cushion the laptop. There is no eco fabric, no coating claim and no gimmick — it is a straightforward carrying case in the Simply Portable line.
Organised without over-engineering
A zippered outer compartment carries organisational pockets, with further accessory compartments for chargers, cables, pens and documents. Everything sits away from the laptop rather than loose against it.
Carried three ways
A padded handle for short distances, a detachable padded shoulder strap for longer ones, and a roller bag attachment strap that slides the case over the handle of wheeled luggage. The strap comes off entirely when you do not want it.

Singular Expert Insight
The SP40 is deliberately unexciting, and that is its appeal. There is no eco fabric, no shock-absorption branding, no checkpoint trick and no USB port — just a padded nylon toploader with sensible pockets, a detachable strap and a lifetime warranty from a brand that has been making laptop security and carry products for decades. If you want a case that will not attract attention on a train and will still be serviceable in five years, this is the right kind of boring. If you want a bag with a specification sheet to compare, Kensington publishes less here than DICOTA or Targus do — no weight, no water claim, no tablet slot. Browse the rest of our laptop cases and bags, or the laptops range if you are matching a machine to a case.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a plain, well-made black toploader for a 15.6″ laptop, with a published internal compartment size, a detachable padded shoulder strap, a trolley strap and a Limited Lifetime Warranty behind it.
Skip it if
You want a backpack, a clamshell that lays flat for security, a dedicated tablet pocket or any water resistance. Kensington claims none of these for the SP40, and publishes no weight for it either.
Also consider
A Targus CityGear TCG470GL topload if your laptop is up to 17.3″, a DICOTA Eco Multi COMPACT if you want a lockable clamshell, or a Rivacase 8134 if you would rather have a lighter recycled-fabric bag.
