The Kensington CH1000 (part number K39124EU) is a simple bus-powered hub that turns one USB-C port into two USB-A and two USB-C ports, all at USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gbps). It needs no drivers or power supply, plugs in with its integrated reversible USB-C cable, and lets a thin laptop or tablet keep using older USB-A accessories alongside new USB-C ones. Compatibility — check before buying:
Host must be USB-C (captive cable). Kensington states the hub does not support Power Delivery: it will not charge the laptop, and the laptop’s USB-C port is occupied while it is connected. No video, no Ethernet, no fast charging. Being bus-powered, it suits keyboards, mice, sticks and SSDs rather than several spinning hard drives at once.
