Kingston DataTraveler Exodia M 128 GB — Moving Cap, Nothing to Lose
128 GBUSB 3.2 Gen 1, Type-AMoving cap, stays attached5-year Kingston warranty
The Kingston DataTraveler Exodia M is a 128 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with a USB Type-A connector and a moving cap — it slides rather than pulling off, so there is nothing to leave behind on a desk. There is a loop for a keyring at the other end. It measures 67.4 x 21.8 x 11.6 mm and weighs 10 g, and Kingston covers it for five years with free technical support.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone or a USB-C-only laptop. ???? Kingston sells four Exodia drives whose part numbers differ by a single letter and whose only real difference is the cap.
DTXM — this one — has a moving cap that stays attached. DTX has a detachable cap you can lose, and is sold under the identical name. DTXS has a swivel cap and is the smallest of the four. DTXG2 has a snap-on cap with a coloured keyring hole and reaches 512 GB. DTXON (Exodia Onyx) is a moving-cap drive in matte black only, so do not order it if you want a colour. Order by part number, and watch for the -2P suffix: DTXM/64GB-2P is a two-pack of 64 GB drives, not a 128 GB one — the Exodia M is the only model in the family with a published two-pack, which makes that mistake easier to make here than elsewhere. One honest gap: Kingston publishes no MB/s figure for any Exodia at any capacity — only the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard, with a note that speed varies with the host.Best For
✓ Everyday transport of documents, photographs and installers
✓ Anyone who has lost a detachable cap before — this one cannot come off
✓ Drives that live on a keyring
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Buying several at once for an office or a classroom, where the two-pack also exists
✓ Buyers who want a major-brand drive with a real five-year term
Key Features
Moving cap
Kingston’s phrase is that the moving cap design protects the USB connector. It slides along the body rather than detaching, which removes the single most common way a flash drive gets damaged.
Keyring loop
A loop at the end that, in Kingston’s words, easily attaches to key rings. Note that no ring or lanyard is supplied with the drive.
Five years, with support
Kingston covers the drive for five years and includes free technical support — longer than most drives on this shelf carry, and a real part of what you are paying for.
Chrome OS on the list
Kingston lists Windows 11, macOS 13.7.8 and later, Linux 4.4.x and later, and Chrome OS. Useful if the drive is going into a school or an office running Chromebooks.

Singular Expert Insight
Of the four Exodia bodies, the M is the one to pick if you have ever put a cap down and not picked it up again — and most people have. Everything else about it is Kingston’s standard everyday stick: USB 3.2 Gen 1, a keyring loop, five years of cover with technical support behind it. What you cannot do is compare it on paper, because Kingston publishes no speed for the range at all; the choice against another brand comes down to warranty, body and name rather than numbers. If numbers are what you need, several makers in our USB flash drives range publish per capacity, which is the honest way to compare. For large working files rather than carried ones, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a 128 GB stick from a major brand with a cap that cannot be lost, a keyring loop, and a five-year warranty with support.
Skip it if
You compare drives by published MB/s — Kingston publishes none for this range. Or you need a USB-C connector, or more than 256 GB in this body.
Also consider
Kingston DataTraveler Exodia G2 (DTXG2) if you want a snap-on cap and up to 512 GB. Exodia S (DTXS) for a swivel cap in a smaller body. A USB-C drive if a phone is involved.
