Kingston DataTraveler Kyson 64 GB — 4 Grams of Capless Metal at 200 MB/s
64 GB200 MB/s readCapless metal, 4 g5-year Kingston warranty
The Kingston DataTraveler Kyson is a 64 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive in a capless metal body 39 mm long and weighing 4 g, with a functional loop for key rings. Kingston publishes a read speed of 200 MB/s for it and backs it with a five-year warranty and free technical support. There is no cap to lose, because there is no cap.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector, so it does not reach a phone or a USB-C-only laptop without an adapter, and none is supplied. ???? One thing to know before you buy the 64 GB specifically: Kingston publishes no write speed for it. Its speed table reads “64GB: 200MB/s read” on one line and “128GB-512GB: 200MB/s read, 60MB/s write” on the next. The 60 MB/s write belongs to 128 GB and above, and Kingston deliberately does not extend it down to this capacity. The range is marketed on 200/60 and the packaging says 200MB/s — but if write speed matters to you, for instance offloading video, the 128 GB is the size where Kingston actually commits to a figure. We would rather say that than let you assume. Note also that the read figure is the same 200 MB/s at every capacity, so buying larger buys the write commitment rather than more read speed.
Best For
✓ Everyday transport where 200 MB/s read genuinely saves time
✓ Keyring carry — the loop is part of the metal body, on a 4 g drive
✓ Anyone who has lost a cap and wants a drive that has none
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Reading large files off the drive quickly — installers, media, archives
✓ Buyers who want a five-year manufacturer term with technical support
Key Features
200 MB/s read
Kingston publishes this figure for every Kyson capacity including this one. Reading a few gigabytes off the drive takes seconds rather than minutes.
Capless metal, 4 grams
A bare metal body 39 x 12.6 x 4.9 mm weighing 4 g, with no cap at all. Kingston’s own point is that a capless design saves you the trouble of losing one.
Functional keyring loop
The loop is part of the metal casing. On a 4 g drive an attachment point is what keeps it from disappearing into a bag.
Windows 10 still listed
Kingston lists Windows 11 and 10 for the Kyson, along with macOS 10.15.x and later, Linux 4.4.x and later and ChromeOS. Some of its newer drives have dropped Windows 10 from the list; this one has not.

Singular Expert Insight
The Kyson is the quick, cheap, sensible metal stick: 200 MB/s read, 4 grams, no cap, a keyring loop, five years of cover. For reading files off a drive — installers, media, archives — it is hard to beat at this price. The one thing worth being precise about is the write side, because the range is sold on 200/60 and this capacity only gets the 200. Kingston splits its own table at 128 GB and we are not going to blur that line. If you write to a drive as often as you read from it, the 128 GB Kyson is the one with the published commitment; if you mostly read, this is the better buy. Both sit in our USB flash drives range. For a working library rather than carried files, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a fast, tiny, capless metal USB-A stick with a keyring loop at 200 MB/s read, and a five-year Kingston term suits you.
Skip it if
Write speed matters to you — Kingston publishes none at 64 GB, only from 128 GB up. Or you need a USB-C connector for a phone or a modern laptop.
Also consider
The 128 GB Kyson if you want a published write speed. Kingston DataTraveler SE9 G3 for 220 MB/s read with 100 MB/s write stated. Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C G3 if you need USB-C.
