Kingston DataTraveler Exodia G2 512 GB — USB 3.2 Gen 1 Drive
512 GBKeyring holeSnap-on capUSB 3.2 Gen 1
The Kingston DataTraveler Exodia G2 (DTXG2/512GB) is a 512 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with a black body, a purple snap-on cap and a coloured keyring hole moulded into the end. Half a terabyte at 9.3 g makes it a straightforward way to carry a media library, a photo archive or a stack of system images without thinking about what to leave out.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Kingston publishes no transfer speed for this model — at 512 GB or any other capacity. The product page, the datasheet and the parts entry for this exact part all state USB 3.2 Gen 1 and stop there. We will not print a figure the manufacturer has not published, and any MB/s number quoted elsewhere for an Exodia G2 came from somewhere other than Kingston. If a rated speed is part of your decision, tell us and we will point you at a Kingston drive that publishes one. Two practical notes: the cap is removable, so it can be lost, and the connector is USB Type-A, which means a phone or USB-C-only laptop needs an adapter that is not included.
Best For
✓ Carrying a full photo, music or video library
✓ Archiving finished projects off a laptop
✓ A high-capacity drive that lives on a keyring
✓ System images, installers and recovery media
✓ Handing half a terabyte to a colleague
✓ Buyers choosing on capacity and warranty rather than a speed rating
Key Features
512 GB with a keyring hole
The coloured keyring hole is moulded into the body rather than being a separate loop, so it is the drive itself that takes the strain. At 60.8 x 21.4 x 10.4 mm and 9.3 g it hangs off keys without dragging on the port when plugged into a laptop.
Snap-on cap, not a swivel
The cap clips over the connector and comes off completely. That keeps the connector fully covered when the drive is loose in a bag, and it is the one part to keep track of. If you would rather have nothing to lose, the Exodia S uses a swivel body instead.
USB 3.2 Gen 1, works everywhere
The drive uses the 5 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 1 bus and falls back to USB 2.0 speed in older ports. No drivers are needed on Windows 11, macOS 13.7.6 or later, Linux 4.4.x or later, or ChromeOS.
Kingston’s five-year term
Kingston publishes a five-year warranty with free technical support for this model on its global datasheet, so the term applies here rather than being a United States figure that does not.

Singular Expert Insight
At 512 GB this is one of the largest plain flash drives we stock, and for carrying a library rather than working on one it does the job well: a keyring hole moulded into the body, a cap that fully covers the connector, 9.3 g on a keyring and a five-year manufacturer term. The gap in the specification is speed, and it is a real gap — Kingston publishes no read or write figure for the Exodia G2 at any capacity, so nobody can tell you how long a 200 GB copy will take. That is acceptable for an archive drive and unacceptable for a working one, and the honest advice is to decide which of those you are buying. Also worth knowing before you order: Exodia G2, Exodia S and plain Exodia are three separate drives with three separate datasheets and three different bodies. The part number on this listing is DTXG2/512GB.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want half a terabyte on a keyring with a cap that fully covers the connector and a five-year manufacturer term, and you are loading the drive occasionally rather than rewriting it constantly.
Skip it if
You need a published read or write speed — Kingston gives none for this model. Skip it too if a removable cap will end up lost, if you need USB-C, or if the files need encryption.
Also consider
Kingston DataTraveler Exodia S 512 GB for the same capacity with a swivel body and no cap. Kingston DataTraveler SE9 G3 256 GB if published speeds matter more than capacity. Kingston IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 if the contents are confidential.
