LaCie Rugged Mini 2TB Portable Hard Drive (Orange)
All-terrain portable storage that survives drops, rain and even being run over.
2 TB USB 3.0 Drop / Rain / Crush Orange Rugged
The LaCie Rugged Mini, part number LAC9000298, is a 2TB 2.5-inch rugged portable external hard drive with a USB 3.0 interface, built for photographers, videographers and professionals who move data through tough, unpredictable conditions. Wrapped in its iconic orange rubber sleeve over an aluminium core, it is bus-powered over a single USB cable and resists drops, rain and crushing pressure. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus. Compared with a standard portable drive such as the WD Elements or Toshiba Canvio, the Rugged Mini adds far stronger environmental protection — not just shock, but rain and crush resistance too.
Best For
| ✓ Photographers and videographers on location | ✓ Carrying footage from on-set to post |
| ✓ Fieldwork and travel in harsh conditions | ✓ Backups that must survive drops and rain |
| ✓ Expanding laptop storage on the move | ✓ Anyone who needs tough, portable storage |

All-terrain durability Survives drops from up to 1.2 m (non-operating), rain and crushing pressure — LaCie rates it to withstand the weight of a one-tonne car. | Iconic rugged design A signature orange rubber sleeve absorbs shocks while the brushed aluminium core adds strength and helps dissipate heat. |
USB 3.0, bus-powered SuperSpeed USB 3.0 transfers at up to 130 MB/s, backward compatible with USB 2.0, and draws power over the cable with no adapter. | Password protection & backup Built-in software adds password protection for your files plus easy automatic backups to keep your data safe. |

Singular Expert Insight
The Rugged Mini is the classic field drive for creatives, and its standout is environmental protection — not just shock, but rain and crush resistance that plain portables lack. Two things to keep in mind: it is a USB 3.0 mechanical drive, so transfer speed (around 130 MB/s) is modest by today’s standards, and ruggedness reduces but never removes risk, so always keep a second backup. If you need much faster speeds and no moving parts for the harshest environments, a rugged portable SSD is the step up; if you only work at a desk, a standard portable like the WD Elements costs less.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if You need tough 2TB portable storage that shrugs off drops, rain and crushing — ideal for photographers and fieldwork. | Skip it if You only use the drive at a desk (a plain portable is cheaper), or you need SSD-class speed and no moving parts. | Also consider A WD Elements or Toshiba Canvio for cheaper everyday storage, or a rugged portable SSD for maximum speed and durability. |
