The LANCOM 59002 is a 1-year licence for the LANCOM vRouter 250 — LANCOM's LCOS router operating system running as a virtual machine instead of on dedicated hardware. It is for IT teams and service providers who want a LANCOM VPN gateway, router and WLAN controller inside their own data-centre virtualization or public cloud.
The vRouter 250 licence unlocks 250 Mbps throughput, 50 IPsec VPN channels, 16 ARF (Advanced Routing and Forwarding) networks, 256 Public Spot users and management of up to 50 LANCOM access points or WLAN routers. It runs on VMware ESXi 6.0 or later, Microsoft Hyper-V (Windows Server 2016–2025, Windows 10/11), Proxmox VE, and Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
Before you order: This is a software licence only — you need your own hypervisor host or cloud account with an Intel Xeon CPU (AES-NI, VT-x), at least 2 GB RAM and 512 MB SSD storage (≥2,000 IOPS) for the VM. It cannot run on bare metal.

What It Means in Practice
- Terminate site-to-site and remote-access VPNs from branches and home offices directly in your virtualized data centre.
- Use ARF to separate up to 16 networks (e.g. guest, staff, management, tenants) on one virtual router.
- Up to 3 of the 5 virtual ports can be WAN connections with load balancing.
- IKEv2-EAP is available from vRouter 250 upwards; Config Sync / high availability needs vRouter 500 or higher.
- If the licence expires the vRouter keeps routing, but firmware updates and configuration changes are blocked until it is renewed — plan the renewal.
What Will Not Work
- No physical router or appliance — it does nothing without a hypervisor or cloud host.
- No Config Sync/HA (requires vRouter 500+).
- All-IP and Content Filter features are not supported on the vRouter.
- Throughput and VPN figures depend on the performance of your host; 250 Mbps is the licence cap, not a guarantee.
