LANCOM vRouter 50 — Virtual Router Licence, 1 Year
1-year licence50 MbpsIPsec + WireGuardESXi / Hyper-V / cloud
The LANCOM vRouter 50 (59000) is a 1-year licence for the LANCOM virtual router, a software version of a LANCOM business router that runs the LCOS operating system as a virtual machine. It is for companies and IT partners who want a VPN gateway, firewall or virtual WLAN controller on their own server or in the cloud instead of buying another hardware box.
The vRouter 50 is the entry size, rated for 50 Mbps of routed throughput and 10 VPN channels in the current R&S LANCOM datasheet (LCOS 10.94). It runs on VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox VE and in Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, and it is managed with the same LANconfig, WEBconfig or LANCOM Management Cloud tools as LANCOM hardware routers. There is no hardware in this product: you download the software and activate the licence.
Before you order: This is a licence, not a device. You need your own hypervisor host or cloud account, with an Intel Xeon CPU supporting AES-NI and VT-x for ESXi and Hyper-V. LANCOM licences cannot be added together: two vRouter 50 licences do not make a vRouter 100.
What's in the Box
- 1 × licence for LANCOM vRouter 50, term 1 year
- Printed installation guide (German / English)
- The vRouter software is downloaded from the manufacturer; no hardware, no support contract
What It Means in Practice
- You can place a full LANCOM router next to your servers or in a cloud tenant and connect branch offices to it by VPN.
- Small sites that already run a LANCOM network can add a virtual VPN gateway without new rack space or power.
- During the 1-year term you receive firmware updates and can change the configuration freely.
- When the term ends, the vRouter keeps running as licensed, but firmware updates and configuration changes are no longer possible until you renew.
What Will Not Work
- It does not include server hardware or a hypervisor licence; VMware or Windows Server licences are yours to provide.
- Config Sync and high-availability clustering are not available on vRouter 50; they start at vRouter 500.
- IKEv2-EAP VPN is not available on vRouter 50; it starts at vRouter 250.
- The LANCOM Management Cloud subscription for SD-WAN automation is a separate licence.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens after one year?
The vRouter keeps routing as configured, but you cannot update the firmware or change the configuration until you renew. Longer terms exist as separate licences (3 and 5 years).
Can I combine two licences for more speed?
No. LANCOM licences cannot be added together. If you need more than 50 Mbps or 10 VPN channels, choose a larger vRouter model.
Do I need the LANCOM Management Cloud?
No. You can manage the vRouter with LANconfig or WEBconfig. The Management Cloud is only needed for automated SD-WAN and is licensed separately.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
A virtual router is the neat answer when your servers already run on a hypervisor and you need a VPN gateway for a few branch offices or remote sites. Size it by real WAN speed and VPN count: vRouter 50 suits small offices, not a busy head office. If you prefer a physical box at the edge, compare our
business routers.
✓ Buy it if you run VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox or a cloud tenant and need a small LANCOM VPN gateway or firewall.
✕ Skip it if you need more than 50 Mbps or 10 VPN channels, or high-availability clustering.
→ Also consider longer vRouter 50 licences (3 or 5 years), larger vRouter models and the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for remote users.
Not sure which vRouter size fits? Send us your WAN speed, number of sites and hypervisor and we will check before you order.
