The LANCOM WLC High Availability Clustering XL Option (item 61636) is a software licence that combines several LANCOM WLAN controllers into one managed cluster of up to ten devices. The configuration is synchronised automatically across all cluster members, access points are load-balanced between the controllers, and cluster certificates are enrolled automatically. If one controller fails, the others keep the wireless network running. There is no hardware: each licence key is registered on the Rohde & Schwarz LANCOM website. In practice it is what makes a large LANCOM Wi-Fi network independent of a single controller.
Compatibility — check before buying:
You need one licence for every controller in the cluster — Rohde & Schwarz states this explicitly, so a two-controller cluster needs two of this item. Rohde & Schwarz’s own documents differ on the supported controller models (the datasheet names the WLC-1000, the product page the WLC-2000, an older datasheet the WLC-4025+ and WLC-4100), so send us your controller model before ordering.
