Lenovo Performance FHD Webcam — Windows Hello Face Recognition
Windows Hello 4.11080p at 30 fps MJPG95° wide lensDetachable cable
The Performance FHD Webcam is Lenovo’s Windows Hello camera. Alongside a 1/2.9 inch RGB sensor doing 1080p at 30 fps it carries an infrared sensor running at 352 x 352, which is what lets Windows sign you in by face on a desktop that has no camera of its own. It has a 95 degree lens, dual microphones that reach two metres, a sliding privacy shutter, 4x digital zoom and 360 degree lens rotation on a tripod-ready clip.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two surprises to head off. First, despite the name and the price, this camera is fixed focus — there is no autofocus. The cheaper-sounding ThinkVision MC60 is the Lenovo camera with autofocus. Second, Lenovo publishes Windows 10 in 32-bit and 64-bit as the supported operating system and does not list macOS; Windows Hello is a Windows feature and will not follow the camera to a Mac. The camera end is USB Type-C and Lenovo supplies a detachable 1.8 m USB-C to USB-A cable — a real advantage, because a damaged cable can be replaced rather than scrapping the camera. It is optimised for Microsoft Teams; Lenovo publishes no Zoom certification. Lenovo publishes a 1-year warranty for this model, shorter than the three years on its entry FHD Webcam.
Best For
✓ Desktop PCs that need Windows Hello face sign-in
✓ Shared and hot-desked machines where typing a password is slow
✓ Wide framing — 95 degrees takes in more than one person
✓ Microsoft Teams desks
✓ Anyone who wants a replaceable camera cable
Key Features
Windows Hello face sign-in
A dedicated infrared sensor at 352 x 352 and 15 fps alongside the RGB camera, supporting Windows Hello 4.x facial recognition. This is what you are buying — it turns a desktop into a machine that signs you in by looking at you.
95 degrees is genuinely wide
Wider than almost anything else in this range, so two people at one screen fit without leaning in. Lenovo adds 4x digital zoom for cropping back to one face.
A cable you can replace
The camera takes a detachable USB Type-C connection with a 1.8 m USB-C to USB-A cable supplied. Most webcams have a captive cable and become scrap when it frays.
Shutter, pan and tilt
A sliding privacy shutter closes the lens, and the tripod-ready universal clip gives wide-angle pan and tilt with 360 degree lens rotation.

Singular Expert Insight
Buy this for the infrared sensor. Windows Hello on a desktop is genuinely worth having and there are not many cameras that do it, so the fixed-focus lens is the price of entry rather than a flaw — at desk distance you will not notice it. What is worth knowing before you commit is that Lenovo’s naming is not a quality ladder: the Performance model is fixed focus with a 1-year warranty, while the plainer FHD Webcam has 3 years and the MC60 has autofocus. Pick on the feature you actually need. The detachable cable is a small thing that will matter in year three.
