The Lenovo USB-C to Ethernet Adapter (4X90S91831) adds a full-size Gigabit RJ45 port to Lenovo notebooks and other computers with a USB-C port, for a stable wired connection on thin laptops that no longer have a built-in Ethernet jack.
Because it is Lenovo's own accessory, it supports PXE boot on both legacy BIOS and UEFI, Wake-on-LAN from sleep and, on selected ThinkPad models, MAC address pass-through — the features IT departments need for imaging and managed fleets.
Before you order: PXE boot, Wake-on-LAN and MAC pass-through depend on the host notebook's BIOS; Lenovo advises confirming that your system's USB-C port supports PXE before relying on it. Lenovo has marked this adapter End of Life in some regions.

What It Means in Practice
- A dependable Gigabit wired link for video calls, large downloads and VPN sessions on a thin laptop.
- IT can image notebooks over the network with PXE boot, on UEFI or legacy BIOS systems that support it.
- With MAC pass-through on supported ThinkPads, the network sees the laptop's own MAC address, so port security and DHCP reservations keep working.
- The reversible USB-C plug and short integrated cable keep it compact in a laptop bag (24 g).
What Will Not Work
- It will not run faster than 1 Gb/s — for 2.5GbE choose a 2.5GbE USB adapter.
- It will not connect to USB-A ports without a separate adapter.
- MAC pass-through only works on selected ThinkPad models, not on every Lenovo or third-party notebook.
- It does not charge the laptop or add display outputs — that needs a dock.
