The LevelOne FVT-2201 is a Fast Ethernet media converter that connects a 10/100Base-TX RJ45 device to single-mode fiber with SC connectors, at 1310 nm over up to 20 km. It is a simple, low-cost way to carry 100 Mbps links — CCTV, access control, building automation, PLCs or a remote office — across long single-mode fiber runs.
It is unmanaged and needs no configuration: copper in, fiber out, with its own power adapter. It can stand on a shelf or slot into LevelOne’s 19-inch media converter chassis.
Before you order: This is a 100 Mbps converter. The far end must be 100Base-FX single-mode at 1310 nm on two fibers. It will not link with Gigabit fiber ports (1000Base-LX/SX), multimode fiber, or single-fiber BiDi devices.

What It Means in Practice
- Typical job: a camera system or controller with 100 Mbps Ethernet at a remote gate, pump station or second building, connected over single-mode fiber up to 20 km away.
- Built-in Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) monitors fiber and copper and passes a link loss to the other side so the fault is visible.
- Supports packets up to 1.6 KB and IEEE 802.3x flow control.
- Status LEDs: PWR; TX FDX, 100 and Link/Act; FX 100 and Link/Act.

- Gigabit fiber links or Gigabit SFP ports — 100Base-FX only.
- Multimode fiber — single-mode only.
- Single-fiber BiDi converters at the far end.
- LC or ST panels without suitable patch cords — SC on the unit.
- PoE — the RJ45 port does not supply power.

For 100 Mbps devices over long single-mode runs, a Fast Ethernet converter is cheaper and more forgiving than Gigabit optics — but both ends must be 100Base-FX. Many industrial and CCTV links in Cyprus still run like this. If you are upgrading to Gigabit, pick a Gigabit converter and one of our switches with SFP ports with matching LX optics.
