LevelOne POS-1002 — 5, 9 or 12 V DC from an 802.3af port
IEEE 802.3af5 / 9 / 12 V DCFast Ethernet4 DC tips
The LevelOne POS-1002 is a compact Fast Ethernet PoE splitter that turns an IEEE 802.3af PoE feed into a DC supply of 5, 9 or 12 V plus a 10/100 Mbps data port. It lets a low-power device without PoE — a small router, print server, network camera or IoT hub — run from a single Ethernet cable.
A DIP switch sets the output voltage, and LevelOne supplies four interchangeable DC tips (5.5 × 2.5, 5.5 × 2.1, 4.8 × 1.7 and 3.5 × 1.3 mm) so the plug fits most devices. Short-circuit protection is built in and the unit weighs only 76 g.
Before you order: The input is 802.3af (up to 15.4 W at the source), so the DC output is suited to low-power devices. LevelOne does not publish the maximum output current — tell us the device rating and we will confirm.
What's in the Box
- POS-1002 PoE splitter
- 4 interchangeable DC tips (5.5 × 2.5, 5.5 × 2.1, 4.8 × 1.7, 3.5 × 1.3 mm)
- Quick installation guide
What It Means in Practice
- Removes the need for a power adapter and socket at small network devices.
- The four DC tips cover the most common plug sizes, so no extra adapter is usually needed.
- Works with any 802.3af switch or injector, and with 802.3at sources at af level.
- 100 Mbps data is enough for cameras, print servers and IoT devices.
What Will Not Work
- It is not Gigabit.
- It does not output 24 V or 48 V.
- It does not deliver PoE+ power levels to the DC device.
- It needs a PoE source upstream — it does not create PoE.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For a small device without PoE, an 802.3af splitter is the lowest-cost way to remove its power adapter. Check the device current and plug before ordering. For PoE-native devices, see our access points.
✓ Buy it if you need 5, 9 or 12 V DC for a low-power device from an 802.3af port.
✕ Skip it if the device needs Gigabit or more than about 12 W — choose a Gigabit PoE+ splitter.
→ Also consider a Gigabit 802.3at splitter for higher-power devices.
Not sure it fits your setup? Send us the model of your rack, switch or device and we will check compatibility before you order.
