The LevelOne GNC-0200 is a Gigabit fibre network card with one built-in SC multi-mode port (1000Base-SX, 850 nm) on a PCIe x1 card, for connecting a PC or server straight to a multi-mode fibre run without a media converter.
It uses an Intel 82575EB controller and ships with a low-profile bracket, so it fits both standard towers and slim or 2U cases.
Before you order: The optic is fixed: SC connector, multi-mode, 850 nm, 1000Base-SX. The other end must also be 1000Base-SX multi-mode (for example an SX SFP in a switch), and you need a multi-mode patch cable with an SC plug on the card side.

What It Means in Practice
- Fibre is immune to electrical interference and ground loops, so the card suits links between buildings, factory floors or noisy electrical rooms.
- Because the SX optic is built in, there is no SFP module to buy — just the correct multi-mode patch lead.
- An SC-to-LC multi-mode patch cable connects it directly to the LC SFP port on most modern switches.

What Will Not Work
- It will not work on single-mode fibre (OS1/OS2) or with 1000Base-LX/LH 1310 nm optics — it is a multi-mode 850 nm SX card.
- It cannot take an SFP module; the SC optic is fixed.
- It will not run 10GbE, and it has no RJ45 copper port.
- Maximum distance is not published by LevelOne for this card; reach depends on the multi-mode fibre grade on your site.

The GNC-0200 is the simplest way to put a PC or server directly on a multi-mode fibre link: fixed SX optic, standard SC connector and an Intel controller.
