The LevelOne GVM-2000 is a smart managed Gigabit media converter that bridges a 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 copper port to a 100/1000BASE-X SFP slot, extending Ethernet over single-mode or multi-mode fiber, with the distance set by the SFP module you choose, between buildings, floors or equipment rooms. Part number GVM-2000 is the open-SFP model of the GVM-2000 series.
Unlike plain unmanaged converters, it can be managed via web or SNMP, with QoS, VLAN (including Q-in-Q), IGMP, ERPS and ACL functions, so the fiber link can be monitored and segmented like a switch port. It runs from the included 5 V adapter or slides into the LevelOne CVH-2000 19-inch 14-slot chassis for central installs.
Compatibility note: No SFP module is included. Choose a 100BASE-FX or 1000BASE-X SFP that matches your fiber (single- or multi-mode, LC connector, required distance) and the device at the other end.
