LevelOne SFP-9331 — Gigabit BiDi SFP, 20 km
1 GbpsOne fibre strandTx 1550 nmUp to 20 km
The LevelOne SFP-9331 is a Gigabit bidirectional (BiDi) SFP transceiver that runs a full link over one single-mode fibre strand, up to 20 km. It transmits at 1550 nm and receives at 1310 nm through a simplex LC connector, and pairs with the LevelOne SFP-9321 at the other end. In practice, bidirectional optics are used where fibre is scarce — a leased dark-fibre strand, a full duct or an old building link. Before you order, confirm which end of the strand gets which module type and that the fibre is single-mode all the way.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is one half of a pair: the other end needs an SFP-9321 (Tx 1310 / Rx 1550), which is not included. Two SFP-9331 modules will not link to each other. The connector is simplex LC, so you need a single-strand patch cord. LevelOne does not mention digital diagnostics for this module, so do not plan on DDM monitoring. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure? Send us your device model and the cable run and we check it before you order.
Best For
✓ Gigabit over a single fibre strand
✓ Leased or shared dark fibre
✓ Doubling the use of an existing fibre pair
✓ Links between buildings up to 20 km
✓ Replacing a failed SFP-9331
✓ Switches with 1G SFP ports
Key Features
Gigabit on one strand
Both directions share one single-mode strand up to 20 km, so an existing fibre pair can carry two links.
One strand instead of two
A bidirectional optic sends and receives on different wavelengths over a single single-mode strand, which halves the fibre you need. The price of that is pairing: the two ends must be opposite types.
Hot-swappable
Modules plug into a live port without shutting the switch down, so a link can be added or replaced during working hours. Seat it until it clicks and use the latch to remove it.
Plan both ends together
A link only comes up when both ends use the same standard, speed and media. Order the far-end module, the cable and any spares in one go and the link works on day one.

Singular Expert Insight
We suggest the SFP-9331 / SFP-9321 pair when fibre strands are scarce between two sites. Order both modules together and label the ends — a 1550 nm transmitter must always face a 1310 nm transmitter. Every order is backed by Singular’s local support in Cyprus — if a link will not come up, send us the port status and we help you find out whether it is the module, the cable or the configuration. Browse all transceivers and DAC cables or the switches they plug into.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need Gigabit over one single-mode strand up to 20 km and order an SFP-9321 for the far end.
Skip it if
You have two strands available, you only order one type, or your fibre is multimode.
Also consider
