The LevelOne GVT-2014 is a Gigabit media converter with a built-in 1000BASE-LX single-mode transceiver (1310 nm, SC, up to 20 km) and an RJ45 port that supplies IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ power of up to 30 W.

It is made for long fibre runs that end at a single powered device — a camera on a perimeter fence, an access point in a remote building or an IP phone in a gate house — with no SFP to source and the power adapter in the box.

Before you order: Single-mode only. It will not link over multimode (orange/aqua) fibre, and the far end must be a 1000BASE-LX 1310 nm single-mode device with SC (or an LC–SC patch cord).

What It Means in Practice

  • Data: Gigabit Ethernet with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDI-X on the RJ45 side.
  • Power: one PoE+ device up to 30 W, 802.3af and 802.3at; pins 1/2 (+) and 3/6 (−).
  • Distance: up to 20 km on single-mode fibre — far beyond anything copper can do.
  • A pair of GVT-2014 makes a complete point-to-point link if there is no switch with a fibre port at the other end.

What Will Not Work

  • Multimode fibre — for that use the GVT-2013 (500 m).
  • Devices that need 802.3bt (60/90 W).
  • It needs its adapter and a mains socket at the converter location; the PoE budget is for one device.
  • It is rated 0–45°C, so it is not for unconditioned outdoor cabinets.

20 km is the rated reach. Very lossy links (many splices or connectors) shorten it; we can check your link budget if you send us the details.

Confirm the fibre is single-mode (usually yellow) before ordering. For more devices at that point, combine fibre with one of our industrial and desktop switches.
