Lexar NQ100 2TB — 2.5 inch SATA III Internal SSD, Up To 550MB/s Read

2 TB capacitySATA III 6 Gb/s7 mm, 2.5 inchUp to 550MB/s read

The Lexar NQ100 2TB is a 2.5-inch SATA III internal SSD rated at up to 550MB/s sequential read, aimed at anyone replacing a mechanical hard drive in a laptop or desktop and wanting a large capacity at a value price rather than the fastest possible drive. It is supplied as Lexar part number LNQ100X002T-RNNNG, measures 69.85 × 100.2 × 7 mm in a grey plastic casing, and connects over the standard SATA 6 Gb/s interface that every desktop and most laptops built in the last fifteen years already have. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
2TB and 1.92TB are two different products. Lexar sells the NQ100 on two overlapping capacity ladders at the same time — a legacy decimal ladder (240GB, 480GB, 960GB, 1920GB) and a newer binary one (256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB). This SKU is the 2TB, part number LNQ100X002T-RNNNG. The 1.92TB is LNQ100X1920, a separate part with roughly 4% less capacity and its own published endurance rating. Do not treat specifications from one as applying to the other.
7 mm height. It fits any 7 mm laptop drive bay. Older 9.5 mm bays will need a spacer, which is not included.
Nothing is included except the drive. No mounting bracket, no screws, no 9.5 mm spacer, no SATA cable and no software disc. Lexar’s SSD Dash utility is a free download and does not clone drives — Lexar itself points users to third-party cloning software. There is no Acronis licence with this product.
Lexar does not publish a write speed, an IOPS figure, a TBW endurance rating, an MTBF figure, the NAND type or the controller for this capacity. We have deliberately left all of those blank rather than repeat numbers that, on inspection, belong to a different Lexar model or a different capacity.
Suffix: the -RNNNG ending marks the global and EU channel SKU; -RNNNU is the Americas version.

Best For

✓ Replacing a mechanical hard drive in a laptop or desktop
✓ Bulk storage for games, photos and video on a budget
✓ Second drive in a desktop alongside a faster NVMe boot drive
✓ Older machines that have SATA but no M.2 slot
✓ Consoles and media PCs that take a 2.5 inch drive
✓ Anyone who wants 2 TB of solid-state storage cheaply

Key Features

2 TB on the interface everything already has
SATA III 6 Gb/s is on every desktop motherboard and nearly every laptop built in the past fifteen years. If your machine has no M.2 slot, or the M.2 slot is already occupied, this is the straightforward way to add two terabytes of solid-state storage.

Up to 550MB/s read
That is effectively the ceiling of the SATA III interface, and roughly five times what a 5400 rpm laptop hard drive manages. On an older machine the difference in boot and load times is the single most noticeable upgrade you can make.

Standard 7 mm, 2.5 inch form factor
69.85 × 100.2 × 7 mm and around 34 g. It drops into any 7 mm bay without modification, and into a 9.5 mm bay with a spacer. No moving parts means no spin-up delay and no noise.

Rated for real-world handling
Lexar publishes a 1500 G shock rating over a 0.5 ms half-sine pulse and 20 G vibration resistance, with an operating range of 0 to 70 °C. A hard drive in the same laptop is far more vulnerable to being knocked while running.

Product type (manufacturer term) Internal SSD
Capacity & Interface
Capacity 2 TB
Interface SATA III 6 Gb/s
Backwards compatibility SATA is specified to be backwards compatible with SATA II 3 Gb/s and SATA I, although Lexar makes no explicit claim
Form factor 2.5 inch
Height 7 mm
Performance
Sequential read Up to 550MB/s — Lexar quotes this figure across every NQ100 capacity
Sequential write Not published by Lexar for any NQ100 capacity. A 500MB/s figure circulating at some resellers is not a Lexar specification
Random IOPS Not published by Lexar
NAND type Not published by Lexar. Independent teardowns found 3D TLC on the 480GB and 3D QLC on the 960GB, so the type varies with capacity and cannot be stated for 2TB
Controller Not published by Lexar
DRAM cache Not published by Lexar. Teardowns of smaller capacities found a DRAM-less design with an SLC write cache
Endurance & Reliability
Endurance (TBW) Not published by Lexar for the 2TB. Lexar publishes TBW only for the decimal ladder: 84 TB at 240GB, 168 TB at 480GB, 336 TB at 960GB and 672 TB at 1920GB, all at 0.32 DWPD. Figures of 672 TB or 1000 TB attached to this 2TB SKU by resellers belong to the 1.92TB NQ100 and to the NS100 respectively
MTBF Not published by Lexar for the NQ100
Shock 1500 G, 0.5 ms, half sine wave
Vibration 20 G. Lexar’s regional sites publish two different frequency profiles for this model, so only the 20 G figure is quoted here
Operating temperature 0 °C to 70 °C
Storage temperature -40 °C to 85 °C
Power consumption Not published by Lexar
S.M.A.R.T. Supported
Physical & Box
Dimensions 69.85 × 100.2 × 7 mm
Weight Approximately 34 g — a measured figure, not published by Lexar
Casing Grey plastic with a textured finish. Not aluminium, despite some reseller descriptions
In the box The drive and a warranty leaflet only. No bracket, no screws, no 9.5 mm spacer, no SATA cable and no software media
Software Lexar SSD Dash is a free download for SMART monitoring, drive health and firmware. It does not clone drives, and no cloning licence is bundled
Warranty
Warranty 1-Year Warranty (Singular)
Manufacturer Term Lexar publishes a three-year limited warranty on the NQ100 line globally, including this capacity. Note this is Lexar’s value line — its performance SSD lines carry five years. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year; beyond that we assist you with the manufacturer’s warranty process for its full duration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Lexar NQ100 2TB the same as the 1.92TB version?
No. Lexar runs two capacity ladders side by side on this model. This is the 2TB, part number LNQ100X002T-RNNNG. The 1.92TB is LNQ100X1920, a separate product with about 4% less usable capacity and its own endurance rating of 672 TBW. Specifications and endurance figures are not interchangeable between them, and a lot of listings online mix the two up.
What is the write speed and the TBW endurance rating?
Lexar does not publish either for this capacity. The only performance figure Lexar states for the NQ100 is up to 550MB/s sequential read. We have chosen to leave write speed, IOPS, TBW and MTBF blank rather than repeat the numbers circulating at resellers — those trace back either to the 1.92TB NQ100 or to the entirely different Lexar NS100.
Does it use TLC or QLC memory?
Lexar does not publish the NAND type for the NQ100. Independent teardowns found Micron 3D TLC in the 480GB and Micron 3D QLC in the 960GB, which means the family changes NAND type as capacity rises. Nobody has published a teardown of the 2TB, so we cannot state it. If you specifically need a TLC drive with a published endurance rating, choose a model whose manufacturer publishes both.
Will it fit my laptop, and do I get the screws?
It is a standard 2.5 inch drive at 7 mm high, so it fits any 7 mm bay directly and a 9.5 mm bay with a spacer. Nothing is supplied with it beyond the drive itself — no bracket, no screws, no spacer, no SATA cable. Desktop 3.5 inch bays need an adapter bracket, which you buy separately.
How do I move my existing installation onto it?
Lexar does not bundle cloning software. Its free SSD Dash utility monitors drive health, firmware and SMART data but cannot clone a system drive, and Lexar’s own support pages point users to third-party cloning tools. Plan for either a clone using free third-party software or a clean install of the operating system.
Singular Expert Insight
The NQ100 is a value drive and it is worth being clear about what that means rather than dressing it up. Lexar publishes exactly one performance number for it — up to 550MB/s read — and no write speed, no IOPS, no endurance rating and no NAND type. Teardowns of the smaller capacities show a DRAM-less controller and a switch from TLC to QLC as capacity rises, which is normal at this price and fine for bulk storage, games and media, but not what you would choose for sustained heavy writes or a video scratch disk. What it does very well is the job most people actually need: turning an old laptop or desktop with a mechanical hard drive into something responsive, at two terabytes, cheaply. If you want a published TBW figure and a five-year term, look at the higher-tier drives in our internal SSDs range. And if you are replacing an existing drive, an enclosure turns the old one into external storage rather than a drawer ornament.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You are replacing a mechanical hard drive, want 2 TB of solid-state storage at the lowest sensible price, and your machine has SATA but no free M.2 slot.

Skip it if

You need a published TBW endurance rating, a guaranteed TLC drive, heavy sustained write performance, or a bracket, spacer and cloning licence in the box.

Also consider

A DRAM-equipped SATA SSD such as the Crucial MX series if endurance figures and sustained writes matter to you, or an M.2 NVMe drive if your machine has a spare slot — it will be several times faster for the same money.
