The LogiLink CR0045 combines the two things that usually take up two ports: a three-port USB 3.0 hub and an SD plus microSD card reader in a single 70 g aluminium block on a half-metre cable. For anyone coming back from a shoot or a site visit with cards to empty and a drive to plug in, it means one connection to the laptop instead of two dongles competing for the same socket. All three USB ports run at up to 5 Gbps and stay compatible with older USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices.

Compatibility — check before buying:
It is bus-powered — there is no power input and no adapter, so three USB devices plus a card read all draw from one host port. That is fine for flash drives, a mouse and card transfers; it is not the hub for two bus-powered hard drives. The host plug is USB-A, so a laptop with only USB-C needs an adapter you supply. Can I read an SD card and a microSD card at the same time?
LogiLink does not publish that, and we will not guess it — the specification lists SD and microSD support without stating the slot count or whether both can be active together. Many combined readers of this design share one controller channel and take one card at a time. If reading two cards simultaneously is important to your workflow, tell us and we will confirm it for you before you order.
Will it run an external hard drive?
It has no power input of its own, so everything the three ports hand out comes from the single USB port on your computer. A flash drive, a mouse, a receiver or a card read is comfortably within that. A bus-powered 2.5-inch hard drive will usually run on its own, but not alongside another one, and a drive that ships with its own mains adapter should use it. If drives are the main use, a mains-powered hub is the right answer.
Does it plug into a USB-C laptop?
Not directly. The cable ends in a full-size USB-A plug and no USB-C adapter is included, so a machine with only USB-C ports needs an adapter you provide, or a hub designed for a USB-C host. Tell us the laptop model and we will point you at the right one.

Skip it if

You need to run bus-powered hard drives — there is no power input at all. Your laptop only has USB-C, and no adapter is included. You need CompactFlash, CFexpress or XQD, or you need confirmation that both card slots work at once, which LogiLink does not publish.

Also consider

A mains-powered USB 3.0 hub if drives are involved. A dedicated card reader if you work with card formats beyond SD and microSD. A USB-C hub if your machine has no full-size USB port to plug into.
