The ES is the newer radio and the longer battery; the standard model is the bigger microphone array and the better codecs. Neither is simply an upgrade of the other, and the price difference will not tell you either. Where the ES earns its place is a Teams estate that wants certified hardware, decent ANC and a headset that lasts a full week of calls between charges. Two things to know before you commit: there is no analogue jack at all, and the codec list stops at AAC, so music listeners who care about aptX should look elsewhere.
