Longshine LCS-8037TXR5 — Gigabit copper Ethernet for legacy PCI systems
1x RJ45 copper32-bit PCIRealtekVLAN · WoL
The Longshine LCS-8037TXR5 is a 32-bit PCI network card with one 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 copper port and a Realtek Gigabit controller. It is intended for older desktops, industrial controllers and legacy servers that still use conventional PCI slots and need a Gigabit connection or a replacement for a failed onboard LAN port.
Despite some listings mentioning fibre, this card is copper only: it connects with a standard Cat5e or Cat6 patch cable to any Gigabit switch. It works in PCI 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 slots at 33 or 66 MHz and supports business features such as IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging, 802.1p priority queues, Wake-on-LAN and jumbo frames up to 7 KB.
Longshine's published driver documentation dates from the Windows XP era. It is the right card for keeping a legacy system running, not for a new Windows 11 build.
Before you order: This is a conventional PCI card, not PCI Express, and the port is copper RJ45, not fibre. Longshine's published OS list ends at Windows XP; modern Windows versions are not listed. Send us the PC model and operating system and we will confirm it is the right card.
What's in the Box
- Longshine LCS-8037TXR5 PCI Gigabit network card
- User manual
- Driver CD-ROM
- Network cable not included
What It Means in Practice
- Keeps a legacy PCI-only PC, machine controller or old server on a Gigabit network.
- Replaces a failed onboard network port without changing the motherboard.
- VLAN tagging and priority queues help when the PC sits on a segmented or managed network.
- Connects to any Gigabit or Fast Ethernet switch with a normal copper patch cable; auto MDI/MDI-X handles crossover.
What Will Not Work
- PCI Express slots (x1, x4, x16) — different connector.
- Fibre-optic / SFP links — the port is RJ45 copper only.
- Windows 7, 10 or 11 support is not published by Longshine.
- Speeds above 1 Gbps.
- Laptops or mini PCs without an internal PCI slot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a fibre-optic card?
No. It has one RJ45 copper port for normal network cables. For fibre you need a card with an SFP slot.
Will it run under Windows 10 or 11?
Longshine does not list Windows 10 or 11. Some Realtek RTL8169-family cards work with generic Windows drivers, but we cannot promise it for this model.
Will it work in Linux?
Longshine lists Linux, and Realtek RTL8169-family controllers are generally supported by the r8169 driver included in mainstream kernels.
My PC has PCIe slots only. What should I buy?
Choose a PCIe x1 Gigabit card such as the Longshine LCS-8337TXR2 or DIGITUS DN-10130-1.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Think of the LCS-8037TXR5 as a maintenance part for legacy PCI systems: it gives an older machine proper Gigabit copper networking with VLAN support. For anything running Windows 10 or 11, pick one of our
PCIe network cards instead, which list current operating systems.
✓ Buy it if you run a legacy PC or controller with a free PCI slot and an older OS such as Windows XP or Linux.
✕ Skip it if your PC has only PCIe slots, you need Windows 10/11 support, or you need a fibre connection.
→ Also consider LevelOne GNC-0105T (PCI, Windows up to 10 listed) or Longshine LCS-8337TXR2 (PCIe, Windows 11 listed).
Send us your PC model and operating system and we will confirm whether this card or a PCIe model is the better fit.
