Apple Mac mini with M5 Pro — 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 24GB and 1TB SSD

M5 Pro 18-core CPU20-core GPU24GB unified memory1TB SSD

The Apple Mac mini with M5 Pro (configure-to-order build Z1UD-IN32) is a compact 12.7 cm desktop with the higher M5 Pro chip — 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU — plus 24GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD, made for developers, 3D and motion designers, photographers and video editors who want more processing power than the standard M5 Pro without moving to a Mac Studio. Compared with the standard configuration it adds three CPU cores, four GPU cores and twice the storage.

Around the back there are three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI and a 2.5Gb Ethernet port; the front adds two USB-C ports and a headphone jack, so everyday devices do not need a hub. It drives up to three external displays and connects wirelessly over Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 through Apple's N1 chip. There is no screen, keyboard or mouse in the box — you use your own or add them with the order.

Before you order: This is a configure-to-order build. The chip, memory, storage and Ethernet option are fixed at the factory and cannot be changed later — this unit has the standard 2.5Gb Ethernet, not the 10Gb option. Choose it only if 24GB / 1TB covers you for the life of the machine.

What's in the Box

  • Mac mini (Apple M5 Pro 18-core CPU / 20-core GPU, 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD)
  • Power cord (1.8 m) — the power supply is built into the Mac mini, there is no external power brick
  • No display, keyboard, mouse or peripheral cables are included

What It Means in Practice

  • The 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU matter most in work that keeps the chip busy for minutes at a time: compiling large projects, exporting and rendering video, 3D and motion graphics, batch photo processing and GPU-accelerated effects. For browsing, Office and light editing you would not notice the difference from the 15-core model.
  • 24GB of unified memory is shared by the CPU and GPU. That is comfortable for Xcode, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, 4K editing in Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve and several heavy apps at once. For large 8K timelines, big local AI models or several virtual machines, look at 48GB or 64GB instead — the faster chip does not make up for too little memory.
  • The 2.5Gb Ethernet port works on any existing gigabit network and reaches 2.5Gb/s with a 2.5GbE switch or NAS port. If you later need 10Gb, the only route is an external Thunderbolt 10GbE adapter, because the internal port cannot be upgraded.
  • The Thunderbolt 5 ports run up to 120Gb/s with Thunderbolt 5 devices and up to 40Gb/s as USB4, so fast external SSDs, docks and RAID enclosures connect directly. The two front USB-C ports are USB 3 at up to 10Gb/s — fine for card readers, flash drives and keyboards with a USB-C cable.
  • Up to three external displays: three screens at up to 6K 60Hz or 4K 165Hz each, or two screens with one up to 8K 60Hz, 5K 120Hz or 4K 240Hz. Displays connect through Thunderbolt (USB-C or DisplayPort) and the HDMI port.

What Will Not Work

  • Windows does not run natively — there is no Boot Camp on Apple silicon Macs. Windows on Arm runs only inside virtualisation software such as Parallels Desktop, and some x86 Windows drivers, older hardware utilities and anti-cheat games will not run.
  • External GPU (eGPU) enclosures are not supported on Apple silicon.
  • Memory cannot be added later, and the internal SSD is not a standard M.2 drive — an off-the-shelf NVMe SSD will not fit.
  • Monitors with only VGA or DVI need an active adapter, and the single HDMI port does not give you three HDMI screens — the other displays connect over Thunderbolt/USB-C or a USB-C to DisplayPort/HDMI adapter.
  • The built-in port does not reach 10Gb/s — for a 10GbE NAS at full speed you need the 10Gb Ethernet configuration or a Thunderbolt 10GbE adapter.

Key Features

M5 Pro, higher configuration
18-core CPU and 20-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and hardware-accelerated ray tracing, plus a 16-core Neural Engine — the faster of the two M5 Pro chips Apple offers in Mac mini.

Thunderbolt 5 on the back
Three Thunderbolt 5 ports (up to 120Gb/s, USB4 up to 40Gb/s, DisplayPort) plus HDMI with multichannel audio; up to three displays can run from a single Thunderbolt port.

2.5Gb Ethernet + Wi-Fi 7
2.5Gb Ethernet (100/1000/2500BASE-T) and the Apple N1 wireless chip with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread.

Small and quiet
5 x 12.7 x 12.7 cm, 0.73 kg, internal power supply (155W maximum continuous) and about 5 dBA at idle — it disappears under a monitor or on a shelf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 18-core chip worth it over the 15-core M5 Pro?
If your work keeps the chip at full load — video export, 3D, large code builds — yes, you get more CPU and GPU cores for the same memory. For office work, web and occasional photo editing, the standard 15-core model is enough and costs less.
Can I upgrade the memory or SSD later?
No. Unified memory is part of the M5 Pro package and storage is set at the factory. If you expect larger projects, choose a 48GB/64GB or 2TB+ build now — we can quote any Apple configuration.
Which monitor should I connect?
A USB-C or Thunderbolt monitor connects with one cable; HDMI monitors use the HDMI port. For sharp macOS text, a 4K or higher screen at 27 inches is the usual choice.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
This build puts the faster M5 Pro chip in the Mac mini and doubles the standard storage, which makes it a strong fixed workstation for video, 3D and development work without the size and price of a Mac Studio. Pair it with a screen from our PC monitors range. Two things to think about before ordering: 24GB is right for most creative work but not for large local AI models, and the network port is 2.5Gb — if your projects live on a 10GbE NAS, ask us for the 10Gb Ethernet version instead.
✓ Buy it if you render, export video, work in 3D or compile large projects at a fixed desk and 24GB of memory covers your workload.
✕ Skip it if your work is mostly office and web (the 15-core model is enough), you need more than 24GB of memory or Windows natively, or you need 10Gb networking.
→ Also consider the 15-core M5 Pro build for lighter work, the 10Gb Ethernet configuration for fast NAS workflows, 48GB/64GB memory for heavier projects, or Mac Studio for the top end.
Need a different configuration? Tell us the chip, memory, storage and Ethernet you need and we will quote the exact Apple build — or send us your monitor and NAS models and we will check they fit.
