The Apple Mac mini (2026) in this configuration is a 12.7 cm square desktop built on the M6 chip with a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, dual 16-core Neural Engine, 16GB of unified memory and a large 2TB SSD, aimed at offices, home users, photographers and small studios who want a quiet, compact Mac with plenty of space for files, photo libraries and projects.
This is a configure-to-order (CTO) build based on the standard M6 Mac mini (Apple base MHQK4, 16GB and 256GB). It keeps the 16GB memory and the standard 2.5Gb Ethernet, and upgrades the internal SSD from 256GB to 2TB — eight times the storage, so you rarely need an external drive for everyday work.
Before you order: Memory and storage are part of the Apple silicon design and cannot be upgraded after purchase. This unit has 16GB — fine for office work, photo editing and light video, but if you plan heavier video, virtual machines or local AI, ask us about the 24GB or 32GB configurations before ordering. No display, keyboard or mouse is included.
What's in the Box
- Mac mini (M6, 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, 16GB, 2TB SSD)
- Power cord (1.8 m)
- No display, keyboard, mouse or trackpad — these are sold separately
What It Means in Practice
- 2TB internal SSD holds a large photo library, years of documents and several video projects without an external drive on the desk.
- The M6 chip with 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU (with hardware ray tracing and Neural Accelerators) handles Office, browsers, Lightroom, Photoshop and 4K editing in Final Cut Pro comfortably.
- Dual 16-core Neural Engine runs Apple Intelligence features on-device, fast and private.
- Up to three external displays: two up to 6K at 60Hz plus a third over Thunderbolt or HDMI — ideal for office multi-screen setups.
- 2.5Gb Ethernet is faster than standard gigabit for transfers to a NAS or a 2.5G switch; Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 cover wireless.
- Two front USB-C ports and the headphone jack keep everyday connections within reach; it is near-silent at idle.
What Will Not Work
- It has no built-in screen, keyboard or mouse — you need your own monitor and input devices.
- RAM and SSD cannot be upgraded later; 16GB is fixed for the life of the machine.
- There are no USB-A ports and no SD card slot — older USB-A devices and cameras need a USB-C adapter or a hub/dock.
- Ports are Thunderbolt 4 (up to 40Gb/s), not Thunderbolt 5, and Ethernet is 2.5Gb, not 10Gb (10Gb was a separate factory option).
- Windows cannot be installed natively (no Boot Camp on Apple silicon); Windows on Arm only through virtualisation such as Parallels Desktop. External GPUs (eGPU) are not supported.
- Do not confuse it with the base MHQK4 Mac mini (16GB, 256GB) or the M5 Pro Mac mini — this unit is the M6 16GB, 2TB configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 16GB enough?
For office work, browsing, photo editing and 4K editing, yes. For several virtual machines, larger local AI models or heavy multi-layer video, 24GB or 32GB is the better choice — memory cannot be added later.
Can I connect my USB-A keyboard, mouse or printer?
Yes, through a USB-C to USB-A adapter or a USB-C hub/dock — there are no USB-A ports on this Mac mini.
Will my existing monitor work?
Yes, via HDMI or USB-C/DisplayPort/Thunderbolt. For 4K above 60Hz or 5K/6K panels, use a Thunderbolt or USB-C connection.
Which plug does the power cord have?
The cord supplied depends on the region of the unit; tell us if you need a specific plug type and we will confirm before ordering.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The Mac mini is the most cost-effective way into a modern Mac for an office or home desk. This configuration puts the budget into storage: 2TB keeps photo libraries and projects on the fast internal SSD, while 16GB covers typical office and creative work. Pair it with one of our
PC monitors and a USB-C hub if you still use USB-A devices.
✓ Buy it if you want a compact, quiet Mac for office, photo or light video work and need plenty of internal storage for libraries and files.
✕ Skip it if you run virtual machines, local AI or heavy video — choose more memory instead — or your files live on a NAS and 512GB would be enough.
→ Also consider the M6 Mac mini with 24GB or 32GB memory, the M5 Pro Mac mini for more GPU and Thunderbolt 5, or the Mac Studio for workstation-class performance.
Not sure which configuration fits? Tell us how you will use it and we will recommend memory and storage before you order.
