MediaRange MR917 64 GB — Sliding Body, Key Chain in the Pack, 80 MB/s
64 GBUSB 3.2 Gen 1, Type-A80 MB/s read / 25 MB/s writeKey chain included
The MediaRange MR917 is a 64 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive in an aluminium and ABS body with a push-and-slide protective mechanism instead of a cap. MediaRange publishes read speeds of up to 80 MB/s and write speeds of up to 25 MB/s. It measures 56 x 19 x 7 mm, weighs about 9 g, and a nylon key chain is supplied with it.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone, a tablet or a USB-C-only laptop. Two part numbers worth knowing about.
MR917-2 is a different drive despite the near-identical code — it is a swivel body, 54 x 18 x 7 mm, about 15 g, and it has no key chain; the speeds are the same 80 / 25. And MR913, only four digits away, is not a bigger or smaller MR917 at all — it belongs to MediaRange’s separate USB 2.0 swivel family and is much slower. The MR917’s own family is MR914 to MR919 (8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB), all USB 3.2 Gen 1 with the sliding mechanism and a key chain. Note also the operating range: 0 to 45 °C, narrower than most drives — not one for a dashboard in July.Best For
✓ Everyday transport of documents, photographs and installers
✓ A drive meant to live on keys — the key chain is supplied
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Anyone who wants a metal-bodied drive rather than all plastic
✓ Buying several at once where colour-coding is not needed
✓ Replacing a slower USB 2.0 stick with the same kind of body
Key Features
Sliding mechanism, no cap
Push the body and the connector emerges; slide it back and it is protected. Nothing detaches, so nothing gets lost.
Key chain in the pack
A nylon key hanger comes with the drive rather than being sold separately. If the stick is going to live on your keys, that matters more than it sounds.
80 MB/s read, 25 MB/s write
MediaRange publishes both figures. They are typical for a good USB 3.2 Gen 1 stick — comfortable for documents and photographs, unhurried with large video files.
Aluminium and ABS
A metal shell over a plastic body at about 9 g. It survives a keyring better than an all-plastic stick, without the weight of a solid metal drive.

Singular Expert Insight
The MR917 is a quietly sensible everyday stick. The two things it gets right are the ones people actually notice a month later: nothing to lose, because the connector slides rather than uncaps, and something to hang it on, because the key chain is in the box rather than in the accessories aisle. 80 / 25 is honest mid-range performance for USB 3.2 Gen 1 — fine for documents and photographs, patient with video. The one specification to read twice is the operating range, which stops at 45 °C rather than the 60 or 70 most makers quote. If you want per-capacity published figures or a five-year manufacturer term, other drives in our USB flash drives range offer them. For large working files, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a metal-bodied 64 GB USB-A stick with no cap to lose, a key chain supplied, and published 80 / 25 speeds.
Skip it if
You need a USB-C connector, a stated warranty period in years, or a drive rated to work above 45 °C.
Also consider
MR917-2 if you prefer a swivel body and do not need the key chain. MR918 or MR919 for 128 GB or 256 GB in the same family. Silicon Power Blaze B30 if you want a five-year term and per-capacity speeds.
