MediaRange MR918 128 GB — Sliding USB 3.2 Gen 1 Drive with a Key Hanger
128 GB80 MB/s read / 25 MB/s writeSliding, no capKey hanger included
The MediaRange MR918 is a 128 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with a sliding connector and a nylon key hanger in the box. MediaRange publishes both halves of the speed for this article — up to 80 MB/s read and up to 25 MB/s write — which is more than most flash brands are willing to state. The body is aluminium and ABS plastic at 19 x 7 x 56 mm and 9 g.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive. MediaRange lists it for Windows, macOS and Linux and, unlike its dual-connector models, does not list Android — consistent with a drive that has no USB-C plug. It will not go into a phone or a USB-C-only laptop without an adapter, and none is included. Two corrections worth making, because they circulate in listings: this article is silver and black, not white, and it is USB-A only, not micro-USB. Both of those errors appear on third-party sites and neither matches MediaRange’s own factsheet. Within the family, MR914 through MR919 are the same body in 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB, so the only thing separating this from its siblings is the number printed on the card.
Best For
✓ Keyring carry — the nylon hanger is supplied, not an extra
✓ Everyday transport of documents, photos and installers
✓ Anyone who has lost caps before and wants a slider instead
✓ Handing files between desktops and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Buyers who want the write speed printed, not just the read speed
✓ A second drive to leave in a bag or a drawer as a backup copy
Key Features
Sliding connector
Push the slider and the plug comes out; pull it back and the drive is closed. Nothing detaches, so there is no cap sitting on a desk somewhere while the drive is in your pocket.
Key hanger in the box
MediaRange supplies a nylon hanger with the drive rather than expecting you to source one. On a 9 g drive that is the difference between keeping it and losing it.
80 read, 25 write — both published
MediaRange states read and write separately for this exact article. Many manufacturers publish read only, so you are buying with a fuller picture than usual.
Aluminium and ABS at 9 g
19 x 7 x 56 mm and 9 g. Thin enough not to block the neighbouring port on a laptop, solid enough to survive keyring life.

Singular Expert Insight
MediaRange is unusually straight about speed: where most brands print a read figure and go quiet, it prints both, per article. That candour is the reason to trust the 25 MB/s write rather than resent it. The supplied key hanger is the other small thing that matters more than it sounds — a 9 g drive without an attachment point is a drive you will replace within a year. Where it sits in our USB flash drives range: MR918 is the USB-A slider, MR938 is the dual-ended combo with two caps, MR1954 is the USB-C swivel. Pick by the ports on your machines, because the read speed is the same 80 MB/s across all three. For frequent large transfers, an external SSD is the honest recommendation.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a cap-free 128 GB USB-A stick that clips to a keyring out of the box, and you value a manufacturer that publishes its write speed as well as its read speed.
Skip it if
You need to reach a phone, tablet or USB-C-only laptop. Or you copy very large archives onto the drive often, where 25 MB/s write will test your patience.
Also consider
MediaRange MR938 for the same 80 MB/s read with both USB-A and USB-C ends. MediaRange MR1954 if all your devices are USB-C. An external SSD if you routinely move tens of gigabytes.
