MediaRange MR977 32 GB — Paper-Clip Stick, 4 mm Thin, 2 g
32 GBUSB 2.0, Type-A38 x 4 x 7 mm, 2 g14 MB/s read / 4 MB/s write
The MediaRange MR977 is a 32 GB USB 2.0 flash drive shaped like a paper clip — 38 x 4 x 7 mm and 2 g, flat enough to slip between the pages of a notebook or into a card slot. It is green; MediaRange gives each capacity in the range its own colour. Published speeds are up to 14 MB/s read and 4 MB/s write.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone, a tablet or a USB-C-only laptop. ???? This is not a MediaRange Nano, whatever a listing may say. The Nano range is
MR920 to MR923 — black aluminium, 20 x 12 x 4 mm, with a nylon key hanger in the pack — and MediaRange publishes no green Nano at all. This drive belongs to the separate paper-clip stick family: MR975 8 GB blue, MR976 16 GB yellow, MR977 32 GB green, and nothing else. It is nearly twice as long as a Nano, plastic rather than aluminium, and it has no key chain. If you wanted a drive to leave permanently in a car or a laptop, the Nano is the one; this is a carry-flat drive. Be clear about the bus: USB 2.0 at 14 MB/s read and 4 MB/s write. It is a shape-and-price product, not a fast one. MediaRange publishes no material, no temperature range and no file system for this model, so none appear here.Best For
✓ Carrying documents flat — in a wallet, a card slot or a notebook
✓ Handing out at events, where the shape is the memorable part
✓ Buying several at once where price matters more than transfer time
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports, including older ones
✓ Colour-coding drives — each capacity in the range has its own colour
✓ A drive you fill once and mostly read from
Key Features
4 millimetres thin, 2 grams
The whole point of the design. It slides into places a conventional stick will not go, and at 2 g you will not notice it in a pocket.
Paper-clip shape
MediaRange’s own name for the housing. Capless by construction, with nothing to detach and lose.
A colour per capacity
Blue at 8 GB, yellow at 16 GB, green at 32 GB. Where several drives circulate in one office, that tells you the size across a desk.
Works everywhere
MediaRange lists Windows, macOS and Linux. A USB 2.0 device also plugs into older equipment that can be fussy about USB 3 devices.

Singular Expert Insight
The MR977 is bought for its shape and nothing else, and that is a legitimate reason. Four millimetres thick and two grams means it travels in places a normal stick does not, and the colour makes it findable. Judged as storage it is slow — USB 2.0, 14 MB/s read, 4 MB/s write — and MediaRange documents it thinly: no material, no temperatures, no file system. The one thing to be sure about before ordering is what you are getting, because listings routinely call this a Nano and it is not: the Nano is a stubby aluminium drive with a key hanger, made to live in a port. This one is made to be carried flat. If the port-dweller is what you actually want, look at the MR920 to MR923 in our USB flash drives range instead. For large working files, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a 32 GB drive flat enough to carry in a wallet or a notebook, in a colour you can identify, and slow transfers are not a problem.
Skip it if
You wanted the aluminium Nano with a key hanger — that is MR920 to MR923, and it is black only. Or you write large files.
Also consider
MediaRange MR922 — the 32 GB aluminium Nano with a key hanger, if that is what you were after. MR975 or MR976 for 8 or 16 GB in this same paper-clip shape. Any USB 3.2 drive if speed matters.
