The MediaRange MR931-2 is a 16 GB USB 2.0 combo drive with a full-size USB-A plug at one end and a micro-USB OTG plug at the other, in an aluminium swivel housing. It was built for the generation of Android phones and tablets that used micro-USB ports. MediaRange publishes read speeds of up to 17 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6 MB/s. It measures 70.5 x 19.5 x 11.6 mm and weighs about 17 g.

Compatibility — check before buying:
???? The small connector on this drive is micro-USB, not USB-C. It will not fit an iPhone, and it will not fit any Android phone or tablet made in the last several years — those use USB-C. No adapter is supplied. Buy this only if the device you want to plug into genuinely has a micro-USB port and supports USB On-The-Go. MediaRange’s USB-C combo drives are a completely different series, numbered MR935 upwards, and any of those will fit a modern phone. The micro-USB series is just three items: MR930-2 (8 GB), MR931-2 (16 GB) and MR932-2 (32 GB), and all three are published at the same 17 / 6 MB/s — so the larger sizes are not faster, only bigger. The “-2” here does not mean a two-pack — it is simply part of the article number, and all three are single drives. Be careful, though: elsewhere in MediaRange’s range that same suffix does mean a multipack, so it is not a reliable rule. Note also the operating range: 0 to 45 °C, and that the drive arrives formatted FAT32, which refuses any single file larger than 4 GB.

Only if your phone has a micro-USB charging port — the small trapezoid-shaped one used before USB-C. If your phone charges with a USB-C cable, or it is an iPhone, this drive will not connect and no adapter is included. Tell us your phone model and we will confirm before you order.
Does the "-2" mean I get two drives?
No. MR931-2 is the full article number of a single 16 GB drive, and its 8 GB and 32 GB siblings carry the same suffix. Confusingly, elsewhere in MediaRange’s range that suffix does indicate a multipack, so it is not a rule you can rely on — check the description rather than the number.
Is the 32 GB version faster?
No. MediaRange publishes 17 MB/s read and 6 MB/s write for all three capacities in this series, so choosing 16 GB costs you nothing in speed — only room.
What if my phone is USB-C?
Then you want MediaRange’s USB-C combo series instead — article numbers from MR935 upwards. Tell us the phone and we will pick the right one.

This drive exists for one job: bridging a micro-USB Android device and a computer. If that is your situation it does it in a solid aluminium body with nothing to lose. If it is not your situation, this is the wrong product and the listing name will not warn you — the word people notice is “micro”, and it refers to the plug, not to the size of the drive. Micro-USB has been superseded by USB-C on essentially every phone sold in recent years, so check the port before you order.
