The Microchip Adaptec ACK-I-HDmSAS-4SAS-SB-.8M (2280100-R) is a 0.8 m internal cable that connects one x4 Mini SAS HD (SFF-8643) port of an Adaptec RAID controller or HBA to four SAS drives directly, through SFF-8482 drive connectors that include a 4-pin power input.

Microchip lists its Adaptec SAS HD internal cables for SmartRAID 3100, SmartHBA 2100, HBA 1100, HBA 1000 and Series 8/8Q/8E adapters. It includes a sideband lead for the backplane or enclosure management signals.

Before you order: The controller end is Mini SAS HD (SFF-8643). Older cards and backplanes with Mini SAS (SFF-8087) need a different cable, and Microchip's published cable list for SmartRAID 3200 and HBA 1200 uses a different set — for those, send us the card model first.

How many drives does one cable handle?
Four — one x4 SFF-8643 port carries four SAS/SATA lanes. An 8-port card with two SFF-8643 connectors needs two cables for eight drives.
