Mushkin Essentials 8GB DDR4-3200 Laptop SO-DIMM
8GBDDR4-3200 CL221.2VSO-DIMM 260-pin
The Mushkin Essentials MES4S320NF8G is a 8GB 260-pin DDR4 SO-DIMM for laptops and mini PCs rated at 3200 MT/s with CL22 latency at 1.2V, for DDR4 laptops, mini PCs and all-in-ones that take SO-DIMM memory.
It comes as one 8GB module, giving 8GB in total and up to 25.6 GB/s of peak bandwidth per module (PC4-25600). Adding or replacing a SO-DIMM is usually the simplest upgrade a laptop can get: more capacity means fewer slowdowns with many browser tabs, Office files and video calls open together.
Typical uses: upgrading an office or student laptop that struggles with Windows 11, Teams and many browser tabs, replacing a failed module, or populating a mini PC used as a small server or media box.
Before you order: DDR4 SO-DIMM only — it will not fit DDR5 or DDR3 laptops, and laptops with soldered memory and no free slot cannot be upgraded. Check your laptop’s maximum supported memory speed and capacity first.
What's in the Box
- 1 × 8GB DDR4 SO-DIMM module
- Manufacturer packaging — memory installs tool-free into the slot, no cables or drivers needed
What It Means in Practice
- It is a standard JEDEC module: the system reads its settings automatically and runs it at 3200 MT/s CL22 if the platform supports that speed — no BIOS tuning. On a platform limited to a lower speed it simply runs slower, which is normal.
- A single module runs in single-channel mode. For dual-channel bandwidth (noticeably better in games and with integrated graphics) pair it with a second identical module — buying a matched kit is the safer route.
- 8GB covers browsing, e-mail and Office; for gaming, heavy multitasking or many browser tabs, 16GB is the practical minimum today.
- Mixing it with a different existing module usually works at the speed of the slower one; for guaranteed dual-channel behaviour replace both modules with an identical pair.
- Installation takes a few minutes: power off, unplug the charger (and the battery if it is removable), open the memory cover or base panel, insert the module at an angle into the slot and press it down until both side clips lock.
- After installation, Windows Task Manager (Performance → Memory) shows the total capacity, the speed in MT/s and how many slots are used — a quick way to confirm everything is detected.
What Will Not Work
- DDR5 or DDR3 laptops — the notch is in a different position
- Desktop motherboards (they take full-size DIMMs)
- Laptops with soldered memory and no free SO-DIMM slot, including Apple MacBooks
Key Features
3200 MT/s · CL22
Rated 3200 MT/s (PC4-25600) with 22-22-22-52 timings at 1.2V.
8GB module
Single 8GB module.
Standard-height module
No heat spreader — it fits under any CPU cooler and in slim laptops and small-form-factor cases.
Low-voltage DDR4
1.2V operation — standard DDR4 voltage, so it runs cool and suits laptops and always-on PCs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check that it fits my laptop?
Look up the laptop model’s memory support: it must list DDR4 SO-DIMM, a maximum capacity of at least 8GB and a free slot (or replacement of an existing module). Send us the model and we check it for you.
Will it run slower in an older system?
Yes, and that is fine: DDR memory is backwards compatible in speed, so a 3200 MT/s module runs at the highest speed the laptop support.
Does it work in mini PCs and all-in-ones?
Yes, if they take standard 260-pin DDR4 SO-DIMM — many Intel NUC-class mini PCs, all-in-ones and some small-form-factor desktops do. Check the model’s spec sheet or ask us.
What does the warranty cover?
Limited lifetime warranty per Mushkin. Singular adds its own 1-year warranty and handles any claim for you — bring or send us the module and we take care of the manufacturer process.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For laptops, the cheapest meaningful upgrade is usually memory: match the existing module’s speed if you add one, or replace both for a clean dual-channel pair. Browse our full
memory (RAM) range for other capacities and speeds.
✓ Buy it if your laptop or mini PC takes DDR4 SO-DIMM and you need 8GB.
✕ Skip it if your laptop is DDR5 or its memory is soldered.
→ Also consider a 2-module kit, or a single higher-capacity module if your laptop has only one slot.
Not sure it fits? Send us the model of your laptop or mini PC and we will check memory compatibility before you order.
