The Baaske Medical MI 1005 Retail (article 2006484) is an inline network isolator. It sits in the Ethernet cable between a device and the network and separates the two galvanically, with an isolation rating of 5000 V at 50/60 Hz for one minute, while data passes at 10/100/1000 Mbit/s. Baaske lists IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2 and UL 60601 for it, the standards for medical electrical equipment. The Retail version comes with a 25 cm patch cable, a manual, retail packaging and a serial number. In practice it is the isolator used when medical or other sensitive equipment is connected to a hospital or office network.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Inline RJ45 version. For installation inside equipment, Baaske makes the MI 1005 E, and a protected push-pull version (MI 1005 MB). Baaske’s current product page lists up to 2.5 Gbit/s, while the datasheet for article 2006484 lists 10/100/1000 Mbit/s; we publish Gigabit as the confirmed rate. Baaske does not state PoE pass-through for this model, so do not plan PoE through it without asking us.
