Network cabinets and server racks: 10" and 19" wall-mount cabinets for offices and shops, low-profile and open-frame wall racks, floor-standing server racks up to 42U, outdoor enclosures and cabinets for NVRs. From Digitus, StarTech.com, Roline, Lanberg, Intellinet, EFB-Elektronik, APC and Equip.
How to choose the right rack or cabinet
- Height in U. One rack unit (1U) is 44.45 mm. Add up your equipment (switch 1U, patch panel 1U, router, NVR, shelf, UPS 2U or more) and leave 30–50% free for growth and airflow.
- Width. 19" is the standard for switches, servers and UPS. 10" cabinets suit small offices and shops with compact switches and 10" patch panels.
- Depth. Switches and patch panels fit 300–450 mm wall cabinets. Servers, rackmount UPS and NVRs need floor racks of 600 mm depth or more. Allow about 100 mm extra for cables and plugs.
- Wall or floor. Wall cabinets save floor space but have a weight limit; check the load rating and the wall. Floor racks carry servers and UPS and can have castors.
- Enclosed or open frame. Enclosed cabinets have lockable doors and side panels for security in offices. Open-frame racks give easy access and airflow in locked server rooms.
- Cooling and power. PoE switches, NVRs and servers produce heat; add a fan unit or vented doors. Plan shelves, PDUs and cable management from rack accessories.
