Patriot Rage R550 128GB — USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive with Dual Type-A and Type-C Connectors
128GBUSB 3.2 Gen 1Type-A + Type-CUp to 100 MB/s read
The Patriot Rage R550 (part number PE128GR550DSAD) is a 128GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with both a full-size USB Type-A and a USB Type-C connector built into one swivel metal body, so it plugs straight into a laptop, a desktop or a USB-C phone or tablet without an adapter. Patriot rates it at read speeds of up to 100 MB/s, and the rotating housing protects both connectors when the drive is on a keyring. It is aimed at anyone who moves documents, photos and video between a computer and a modern USB-C device and does not want to carry a dongle. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Write speed is not published by Patriot. The 100 MB/s figure is a read rating only — Patriot does not publish a sustained write specification for the Rage R550, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drives in this class typically write considerably slower than they read. If you routinely write large video files and need a guaranteed write figure, choose a portable SSD instead. Connector check: the Type-C end works with USB-C phones, tablets and laptops that support USB OTG / USB host mode — that includes iPhone 15 and later, most Android phones and all modern USB-C Macs and PCs. It is not a Lightning drive and will not fit an iPhone 14 or older without an adapter. Use case: this is a file-transfer drive, not a drive to run an operating system or a game library from.
Best For
✓ Moving files between a laptop and a USB-C phone or tablet with no adapter
✓ Carrying documents, photos and presentations on a keyring
✓ A pocket backup of working files alongside cloud storage
✓ Handing over media to someone whose machine only has USB-C, or only USB-A
Key Features
Two connectors, one drive
A full-size USB Type-A plug and a USB Type-C plug are built into the same body. Rotate the swivel to expose the one you need, so a single drive covers an older desktop, a current laptop and a phone.
USB 3.2 Gen 1, up to 100 MB/s read
Runs on the 5 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface with a rated read speed of up to 100 MB/s. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports, where the port speed becomes the limit.
Metal swivel body with keyring hole
The housing is metal rather than plastic, and the swivel doubles as a cap — there is no separate lid to lose. A keyhole in the body takes a key ring or lanyard.
Plug and play, no software
No drivers and no bundled utility to install. The drive mounts as standard removable storage on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7, macOS X 10.6 and later, and Linux 2.4 and later.

Singular Expert Insight
The Rage R550 exists to solve one specific annoyance: a laptop with only USB-C, a desktop with only USB-A, and a single drive that has to serve both. Because both plugs are moulded into the same swivel there is no adapter to lose and no cap to misplace, and the metal body survives a keyring better than the plastic drives it competes with. The honest caveat is performance. Patriot rates read at up to 100 MB/s and publishes nothing at all for write — that silence is normal for the segment, but it means you should size your expectations to documents, photos and the occasional video file rather than to a working scratch disk. Within the Rage R550 family the 32GB, 64GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB versions share the same body and the same 100 MB/s read rating, so the choice is purely one of capacity. If you need published write speeds and far higher throughput, step up to a portable external SSD; if you simply want more keyring storage, the rest of our USB flash drives covers every capacity and connector combination.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You move files between USB-A computers and USB-C laptops, phones or tablets, and you want one keyring-sized drive that plugs into all of them with no adapter and no separate cap.
Skip it if
You need a published, guaranteed write speed, you transfer very large video files regularly, or you plan to run an operating system, applications or a game library directly from the drive.
Also consider
A portable external SSD if you need several hundred MB/s in both directions with a stated write figure, or a higher-capacity Rage R550 (256GB, 512GB or 1TB) if the format suits you but 128GB does not.
