Where to start
- Platform first. The processor decides the socket and chipset, which decide the motherboard. The motherboard then decides the memory type (DDR4 or DDR5) and the number of slots.
- Graphics. Office PCs can use the graphics built into the CPU. For CAD, video editing, AI and gaming add a graphics card and check its length and power connectors.
- Power and case. Size the power supply to the graphics card and CPU with headroom, and check that the case fits the motherboard size, the card length and the cooler height.
- Upgrading an existing PC? For branded PCs and laptops, memory must match the exact model; send us the model and we will check compatibility.
