How to choose DDR4 memory
- SO-DIMM, not DIMM. Laptops and mini PCs use short SO-DIMMs; many thin laptops have soldered memory that cannot be upgraded. Check that your laptop has a free slot.
- Speed. Faster modules run at the speed your laptop supports; mixing speeds runs all modules at the slowest.
- Dual channel. Two identical modules (a kit) are faster than one large module. Add memory in matched pairs.
- Branded systems. For Dell, HP, Lenovo and other branded laptops, system-specific memory is matched to the exact model.
