PC Power Supplies (PSU)

Power supplies for office PCs, workstations, gaming builds and servers, grouped by wattage: compact units up to 430 W for office systems, 450 to 825 W for mid-range PCs, and 850 W and above for high-end graphics cards and multi-GPU workstations. ATX and SFX formats, 80 PLUS efficiency ratings and fully or semi-modular cabling.

How to choose a power supply
  • Wattage. Add up the CPU and graphics card power and keep 30 to 50% headroom. Office PCs without a graphics card run on 300 to 450 W; mid-range gaming PCs need 650 to 750 W; high-end cards need 850 W and above.
  • Connectors. Newer graphics cards use the 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector found on ATX 3.0 and 3.1 units; older cards use 8-pin PCIe. Check the CPU connector (4+4 or 8+8 pin) as well.
  • Efficiency and cables. 80 PLUS Bronze, Gold or Platinum units waste less power and run quieter. Modular cables keep the case tidy.
  • Size. Most cases take ATX units; small form factor cases need SFX or SFX-L. Check the length too.
  • Power cord. PSUs use a standard IEC C13 cord. Cyprus uses UK three-pin sockets, so check that a UK cord is included or add one.
