PLANET GTP-805A — Gigabit Fibre-to-PoE+ Media Converter
PoE+ 30 W out1x RJ45 + 1x SFPLFP52V adapter included
The PLANET GTP-805A is a Gigabit media converter that takes a fibre link on its 100/1000BASE-X SFP slot and delivers it on a 10/100/1000 RJ45 port with IEEE 802.3at PoE+ power — up to 30 W for one camera, access point or IP phone.
It is the simple way to reach a device at the end of a long fibre run without a switch or separate injector at the remote point: fibre in, data and power out on one Ethernet cable up to 100 m.
Before you order: The SFP module is not included. Choose one for your fibre (multimode or single-mode) and match it with the module at the other end. PoE output depends on the 52V adapter that comes in the box.
What's in the Box
- GTP-805A media converter
- AC-DC power adapter (52V DC)
- User manual
What It Means in Practice
- One PoE+ device per converter: up to 30 W on the RJ45 port, 802.3af and 802.3at devices are detected automatically.
- The SFP slot accepts 100FX or 1000X modules — distance up to 120 km depending on the module.
- Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) is on by default: if the fibre drops, the copper port goes down too, so the far-end equipment sees the fault. A DIP switch turns it off.
- Desk or shelf mounting in a comms closet; it is a standalone metal unit.
What Will Not Work
- It does not power 802.3bt (60/90 W) devices such as some PTZ cameras with heaters — look at an 802.3bt converter.
- Without the supplied 52V adapter there is no PoE.
- It is not industrial: rated 0–50°C, so not for outdoor cabinets.
- No management and only one copper port.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The GTP-805A solves a common job neatly: one camera or access point at the far end of a fibre run, no switch there and no extra injector. Size the device first — anything that needs more than 30 W (802.3bt) belongs on a higher-power converter. If you need more ports at that point, start from our industrial and desktop switches.
✓ Buy it if you need to bring fibre to a single PoE+ device up to 30 W.
✕ Skip it if your device needs 802.3bt power or you work in an outdoor/industrial cabinet.
→ Also consider LevelOne GVT-2015 (60 W 802.3bt) or GVT-2016 (90 W).
Not sure it fits your setup? Send us the model of your rack, switch or device and we will check compatibility before you order.
