PLANET IGT-900-2T2S — Industrial Managed Media Converter with Ring Redundancy
L2+ managed2x RJ45 + 2x SFP 2.5GERPS < 10 ms-40 to 75°C
The PLANET IGT-900-2T2S is an industrial managed media converter with two 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports and two 100/1000/2500BASE-X SFP slots, built for DIN-rail cabinets in utilities, transport and automation where the fibre network has to be monitored and self-healing.
Unlike a plain converter, it runs a full L2+ management stack: the two SFP ports can join an ITU-T G.8032 ERPS ring that recovers in under 10 ms, VLANs keep control and video traffic apart, and the unit is managed by web, CLI or SNMPv3 — so you see a failing link before it becomes an outage.
Before you order: No SFP modules and no power supply are included. You need SFPs that match your fibre and a 9–48V DC (or 24V AC) supply on the terminal block. Plan an IP address for it in your network — it ships with a default management IP.
What's in the Box
- IGT-900-2T2S media converter
- Quick installation guide
- DIN-rail kit and wall-mount kit
- 2x RJ45 and 2x SFP dust caps
What It Means in Practice
- Ring topology: connect several IGT-900 units (or PLANET industrial switches) in a fibre ring — if one span is cut, ERPS reroutes in under 10 ms.
- The SFP slots detect 100FX, 1000X and 2500X modules automatically, and support DDM so you can read optical power and temperature remotely.
- Two copper ports let you connect, for example, a PLC and an IP camera at the same cabinet.
- Security features such as 802.1X, ACL, DHCP snooping and SSH/TLS management suit critical infrastructure networks.
What Will Not Work
- It does not deliver PoE.
- It is not a plug-and-forget converter: management settings, firmware and passwords need someone who will look after them.
- Only two copper ports — for more devices in the cabinet use an industrial switch.
- It needs a DC (or 24V AC) industrial supply; a mains plug adapter will not fit the terminal block.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is it different from the IGT-805AT?
The IGT-805AT is an unmanaged 1+1 converter. The IGT-900-2T2S is managed, has 2+2 ports, 2.5G SFP slots and ring redundancy.
Can I use 1G SFPs?
Yes. The slots accept 100FX, 1000X and 2500X modules and detect them automatically.
Do I need special software?
No — it is managed through a web browser, CLI or SNMP, and also works with PLANET NMS/CloudViewer if you use them.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Pick the IGT-900-2T2S when the fibre link is part of something that cannot stop — a substation, a traffic corridor, a production line — and you want ring recovery and remote monitoring rather than a truck roll to find a dead link. For a simple single link the unmanaged IGT-805AT is cheaper. For more copper ports per cabinet, see our
industrial and desktop switches.
✓ Buy it if you need managed, ring-protected fibre links in industrial cabinets.
✕ Skip it if you only need a simple unmanaged link or need PoE.
→ Also consider PLANET IGT-900-1T1S (1+1 ports) or IGT-805AT (unmanaged).
