The PLANET MGB-TSA is an industrial Gigabit 1000BASE-BX (WDM) mini-GBIC module that runs a full link over one multimode fibre strand, up to 2 km. It transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm through a simplex LC/UPC connector, with digital diagnostics, and is rated −40 to 85 °C for cabinets, factories and transport sites. It pairs with the PLANET MGB-TSB at the other end. In practice, bidirectional optics are used where fibre is scarce — a leased dark-fibre strand, a full duct or an old building link. Before you order, confirm which end of the strand gets which module type and that the fibre is single-mode all the way.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is one half of a pair: the other end needs a MGB-TSB, which is not included; two MGB-TSA modules will not link. PLANET publishes it for multimode fibre up to 2 km — it is not the 20 km single-mode BiDi pair, which PLANET sells as MGB-LA20 / MGB-LB20. The connector is simplex LC for one strand. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
