PLANET POE-172S — Single-Port Gigabit Ultra PoE Splitter (12/19/24 V DC)
802.3bt input12/19/24 V DC outGigabitMetal, fanless
The PLANET POE-172S is a Gigabit Ultra PoE splitter that takes up to 802.3bt power from a PoE switch or injector and turns it into a selectable 12 V, 19 V or 24 V DC output for a non-PoE device, while passing Gigabit data on a separate RJ45 port — power a mini PC, small laptop, router or camera with one network cable.
A DIP switch sets the output voltage; with an 802.3bt source it delivers 12 V/5 A, 19 V/3.15 A or 24 V/2.5 A. It is backward compatible with 802.3at/af and Cisco UPOE sources, at reduced power.
Before you order: Full output (around 60 W) needs an 802.3bt (Type 3/4) or UPOE source over 4-pair cable. On an 802.3at (30 W) port the available output drops to about 25 W; on 802.3af it is lower still. Always set the voltage your device expects before connecting.
What's in the Box
- 1x PLANET POE-172S Ultra PoE splitter
- 1x 15 cm UTP cable
- 1x DC cable 5.5/2.5 mm to 5.5/2.5 mm
- 1x DC cable 5.5/2.5 mm to 5.5/2.1 mm
What It Means in Practice
- Runs a non-PoE device from a single Ethernet cable — no local power outlet needed.
- Selectable 12, 19 or 24 V covers routers, cameras, mini PCs and many small laptops (19 V).
- Two DC cables cover both common 5.5 mm barrel sizes (2.5 and 2.1 mm).
- Gigabit data out — no bottleneck for the connected device.
- Compact metal fanless case for desktop or wall mounting.
What Will Not Work
- Does not output 5 V or 48 V.
- Full power only from 802.3bt/UPOE — an 802.3at port gives about 25 W.
- Not industrial: 0–50 °C operation, indoor use.
- Not an injector — it needs a PoE source.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The POE-172S is handy wherever a device needs DC power but only a network cable reaches it — kiosks, ceiling-mounted routers, mini PCs. Pair it with an 802.3bt switch or injector for full power. See our switches for PoE++ sources.
✓ Buy it if you need 12, 19 or 24 V DC for a non-PoE device from an 802.3bt or 802.3at port.
✕ Skip it if you need 5 V/48 V or industrial temperature range.
