PNY Attache 4 3.1 128 GB — Capless Sliding Collar, 80 MB/s Read
128 GBUSB 3.1, Type-AUp to 80 MB/s readCapless sliding collar
The PNY Attache 4 3.1 is a 128 GB USB 3.1 flash drive with a sliding collar instead of a cap — push the collar forward to expose the connector, pull it back to protect it. PNY publishes read speeds of up to 80 MB/s and write speeds of up to 20 MB/s. The body measures 53.8 x 19.5 x 9.5 mm. It is a plain, inexpensive drive for carrying documents, photographs and installers between computers.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone, a tablet or a USB-C-only laptop. Two part numbers to be careful with.
FD128ATT4-EF without the “31” is the Attache 4 in USB 2.0 — same name, same look, a slower interface. And the Attache X is a different PNY line altogether, not a faster version of this one. If you are re-ordering to match drives you already have, send us the code printed on the existing stick and we will match it. On speeds: PNY publishes 80 MB/s read and 20 MB/s write as a single figure for the whole Attache 4 3.1 range, from 32 GB up, rather than measuring each capacity. We publish it as PNY does, but treat it as a family claim rather than a tested figure for this 128 GB drive specifically.Best For
✓ Carrying documents, photographs and installers between computers
✓ Handing files to someone who will keep the drive
✓ Buying several at once for an office or a classroom
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Anyone who keeps losing caps
✓ Bulk, low-cost storage where speed is not the deciding factor
Key Features
Capless sliding collar
The connector slides out of the body rather than sitting under a removable cap. Nothing to lose, and nothing rattling loose in a bag.
Up to 80 MB/s read
PNY publishes 80 MB/s read and 20 MB/s write. That is comfortable for documents and photographs; a large video file will take its time, particularly writing to the drive.
128 GB in 53.8 mm
A full-size USB-A drive at 53.8 x 19.5 x 9.5 mm. Long enough to grip and pull out of a tight port, short enough not to foul a neighbouring cable on most machines.
USB 3.1, backwards compatible
It will run in a USB 2.0 port at USB 2.0 speeds, so an older machine is not a reason to avoid it. Note that PNY publishes the interface simply as USB 3.1 without stating a generation.

Singular Expert Insight
The Attache 4 3.1 is the plain end of the USB stick market and does not pretend otherwise: a sliding collar so you cannot lose a cap, USB 3.1, and a published 80/20 that PNY quotes for the whole family rather than for this capacity. That last point is the one to hold on to. If you need a number you can rely on for this specific 128 GB drive, a manufacturer that publishes per capacity gives you firmer ground — several in our USB flash drives range do. What this drive is genuinely good at is being bought in quantity and handed out without anyone worrying about it. For editing large files directly off the drive rather than carrying them, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a straightforward 128 GB USB-A stick with no cap to lose, at a price that makes buying several sensible, and 80 MB/s read is enough for what you carry.
Skip it if
You write large files to the drive often — 20 MB/s write is slow. Or you need a USB-C connector, or a speed figure measured at this exact capacity.
Also consider
The 64 GB Attache 4 3.1 if 128 GB is more than you need. Any USB 3.2 Gen 1 drive with per-capacity published speeds if the figure matters. A USB-C drive if a phone is involved.
