Poly Blackwire 3215 — Monaural USB-C Headset with 3.5 mm
Monaural on-earUSB-C + USB-A adapter3.5 mm connectionNoise-cancelling mic
The Poly Blackwire 3215 (8X227AA) is a lightweight monaural wired headset for professional calls and everyday audio. It connects natively through USB-C, includes a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter for broader PC compatibility, and also provides a 3.5 mm connection for compatible tablets and other devices. A noise-cancelling boom microphone, inline controls and Poly SoundGuard acoustic protection make it suitable for regular office and unified-communications use.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This exact 8X227AA variant uses a USB-C headset connection and includes a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter. It also supports compatible devices through its 3.5 mm audio plug. HP lists compatibility with Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS, Android and iOS, but device support still depends on the available port and whether that device supports headset audio through it.
Best For
✓ Office and home-office calls
✓ Users who prefer one ear free
✓ USB-C and USB-A computers
✓ Compatible tablets with 3.5 mm audio
Key Features
Flexible USB-C and USB-A connectivity
The headset connects directly to a USB-C port, while the included USB-C-to-USB-A adapter allows it to work with computers that still use the traditional USB-A connector.
3.5 mm device connection
A 3.5 mm plug adds another connection option for compatible tablets and other devices, giving the Blackwire 3215 more flexibility than a USB-only office headset.
Noise-cancelling microphone
The 130 mm boom microphone is noise cancelling and rotates through 280 degrees, helping position the microphone correctly for clearer voice capture during calls.
Lightweight monaural design
The headset weighs 64 g without the cable and keeps one ear uncovered, making it suitable for users who need to remain aware of colleagues and activity around them while taking calls.

Singular Expert Insight
The strongest reason to choose 8X227AA is its connection flexibility. You get native USB-C for modern computers, the included USB-A adapter for older PCs and docking stations, plus a 3.5 mm connection for compatible mobile devices. The 3215 is also specifically the monaural Blackwire 3200 model, so it is a better fit for users who need to stay aware of their surroundings than a two-ear stereo headset. The official package includes both the USB adapter and a travel case, so those accessories do not need to be purchased separately.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a lightweight single-ear wired headset that can cover USB-C, USB-A and compatible 3.5 mm devices without buying a separate USB adapter.
Skip it if
You need a stereo headset with both ears covered, wireless mobility or active noise cancellation for listening.
Check first
For 3.5 mm use, confirm that your device provides a compatible headset audio socket. For USB use, choose USB-C directly or fit the included USB-A adapter.
