Poly EncorePro HW520D — Binaural Quick Disconnect Contact Centre Headset
Built for full-shift contact centre useOnly 74 g on the headNoise-cancelling microphoneSoundGuard acoustic protection
The Poly EncorePro HW520D is a contact centre headset built to be worn for an entire shift: 74 grams, foam cushions on both ears, and a noise-cancelling microphone on a 135 mm boom that swings 290 degrees so it works on either side. It ends in a Poly Quick Disconnect plug, which is what lets an agent stand up and walk away without unplugging the whole headset. Part number 783P5AA is the binaural digital variant, TAA compliant.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Read this before ordering: the box contains the headset and nothing else. HP publishes that it has Quick Disconnect but does not include a bottom cable or an amplifier, so on its own this headset plugs into nothing. You need to add one QD cable or adapter to match what it connects to — for a computer, HP lists the USB-to-QD adapters 786C6AA, 786C7AA and 786C8AA; a QD extension cable (85R66AA) and replacement ear cushions (85Q31AA, 85Q36AA) are also published as compatible. Tell us what the headset has to plug into and we will include the right cable on the same order.
Best For
✓ Contact centres and dispatch desks
✓ Shift work where headset weight matters
✓ Agents who need to unplug and step away
✓ Shared positions with per-agent headsets
✓ Sites already standardised on Poly Quick Disconnect
✓ TAA-compliant procurement
Key Features
74 grams, all shift
Weight is the spec that decides whether a headset is bearable at hour six. At 74 g with foam cushions on both ears, the EncorePro 500 series is built around that rather than around features.
Quick Disconnect, not a fixed cable
The QD plug splits the headset from the bottom cable, so an agent can leave the position without unplugging at the desk and without carrying the cable. It also means a failed cable is a cheap replacement, not a new headset.
A microphone that ignores the room
A noise-cancelling microphone with a published response of 20 Hz to 16 kHz and a signal to noise ratio above 50 dB, on a 135 mm boom that rotates 290 degrees for either-side wear.
SoundGuard on every call
Acoustic protection limits sudden spikes, which is the reason this class of headset exists in regulated contact centre environments. The speaker is 30 mm covering 150 Hz to 6.8 kHz.

Singular Expert Insight
Contact centre headsets are priced and specified differently from desk headsets, and the reason is the cable. A Quick Disconnect headset is designed to outlive several bottom cables and several agents: the cable takes the abuse, the headset does not, and the same headset can move from a desk phone to a softphone by swapping a cable that costs a fraction of the whole. The trap is ordering the headset alone and discovering it plugs into nothing — so decide the bottom cable at the same time. Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You run a contact centre or a busy dispatch desk and weight matters more than features. You already have Poly Quick Disconnect cables or amplifiers. You need a TAA-compliant part.
Skip it if
You want one box that works out of the box on a laptop — buy a USB headset instead. You need active noise cancellation. You need a wireless headset to leave the desk.
