Where to start
- Checkout counter: a barcode scanner (1D for retail labels, 2D if you also scan QR codes or codes on phone screens), a POS receipt printer (usually 80 mm thermal, USB or Ethernet) and, if needed, a touch computer. Check that your POS software supports the printer model.
- Warehouse and field work: handheld terminals with a built-in scanner run Android apps for stock taking, picking and deliveries. Choose rugged models with spare batteries and charging cradles from terminal accessories.
- Labels: label printers for shipping, shelf and product labels. Direct thermal is fine for short-life labels; thermal transfer with a ribbon lasts longer. Match the label width and roll core to the printer.
- Accessories and spares: stands, cables and power supplies in scanner accessories and POS printer accessories. Order the part for your exact model; batteries and cradles are not shared between series.
- Power: Cyprus uses UK three-pin sockets. Many printers ship with an EU power cord, so check whether you need a UK cord or adapter.
