Lenovo ThinkPad Quectel EM061K-GL LTE-A CAT6 M.2 WWAN Module — Mobile Broadband for Your ThinkPad
4G LTE-A Cat 6Quectel EM061K-GLeSIM optionalLenovo option
The Lenovo ThinkPad Quectel EM061K-GL LTE-A CAT6 M.2 WWAN Module (part number 4XC1Q24438) is an internal M.2 mobile broadband card that lets a supported ThinkPad connect to the internet over the 4G LTE-Advanced and 3G networks with a SIM or eSIM, without a hotspot or USB dongle. The Quectel EM061K-GL module is LTE Category 6, with theoretical peaks of 300 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up, in the compact M.2 3042 size with a USB 2.0 interface and two antenna connections. In practice it keeps a field engineer, sales person or manager online on the road, with the connection built into the laptop.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It only works in the ThinkPad models Lenovo lists, and only if the laptop is WWAN-ready — that is, built at the factory with the WWAN antennas installed. A ThinkPad without WWAN antennas cannot use it, and antennas are not in the box. Lenovo lists: ThinkPad L13 Gen 5 and Gen 6, L13 2-in-1 Gen 5 and Gen 6, L14 Gen 5 and Gen 6, L16 Gen 1 and Gen 2, T14 Gen 5 and Gen 6, T14s Gen 5 and Gen 6, T14s 2-in-1 Gen 1, T16 Gen 3 and Gen 4, X13 Gen 5 and Gen 6, X13 2-in-1 Gen 5 (Intel and AMD versions as listed per machine type). For some models built with 5G WWAN (for example T14 Gen 5), Lenovo does not recommend this 4G module and notes that an extra bracket, not included, would be needed. A SIM or eSIM data plan from your mobile operator is needed. Send us the laptop’s machine type (the first four characters of the MT on the label, e.g. 21MC) and we confirm it before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work in my ThinkPad?
Only if your model is on Lenovo’s list for 4XC1Q24438 and was built WWAN-ready with the antennas installed. Send us the machine type from the label and we check it.
Are antennas included?
No. The card uses the WWAN antennas already built into WWAN-ready ThinkPads. A laptop built without them cannot use this card.
Do I need a SIM card?
Yes, a data SIM or an eSIM profile from your mobile operator. The module has optional built-in eSIM support; physical SIM use depends on the laptop.
Can I fit it in a 5G ThinkPad?
Lenovo does not recommend fitting this 4G module in a ThinkPad built with 5G WWAN; if used, it needs an extra bracket that is not included. Choose a 5G module for those models.
Singular Expert Insight
We suggest checking the machine type before ordering any WWAN card: the model name alone is not enough, because WWAN-ready and non-WWAN versions of the same ThinkPad exist. For most business users 4G LTE-A Cat 6 is plenty for e-mail, Teams and VPN. If your laptop is not WWAN-ready, one of our
4G and 5G routers shares mobile data over Wi-Fi instead. See also our
ThinkPad docks.
