The REINER SCT Authenticator (article 2 708 015-000) is a hardware token for two-factor authentication. Instead of a phone app, it generates the one-time TOTP codes that services such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Adobe or Autodesk ask for at login. New accounts are added by scanning the setup QR code with the device’s built-in camera, and it stores up to 60 accounts. It has a 1.77″ colour display, a quartz real-time clock and runs on three AAA batteries for about five years. In practice it keeps 2FA codes off employees’ phones and on a dedicated, offline device.
Compatibility — check before buying:
TOTP only. It works with any service that offers authenticator-app (TOTP) 2FA. It is not a FIDO2/U2F security key and not a USB key — services that require a FIDO key need a different product, such as a FIDO stick. The smaller Authenticator mini is a separate model. Tell us which services you need to protect and we check they support TOTP.
