Good Connections 8070R-005V — RNS Cat 7 Raw S/FTP Patch Cable, 0.5 m, Violet

Cat 7 raw cableS/FTP PiMF0.5 mViolet

The Good Connections 8070R-005V is a 0.5 m RNS patch cable built on Cat 7 S/FTP PiMF raw cable with shielded RJ45 plugs, made for short, tidy 10 Gigabit links inside racks and between patch panels and switches. Part number 8070R-005V is the violet version of the 8070R line, with a halogen-free jacket and 99.9 % OFC conductors. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Before you buy
The raw cable is Cat 7, but RJ45 plugs cannot run a Cat 7 channel — the link is rated by its weakest part, so in practice this cord performs as a high-grade Cat 6A (10 Gbps) patch lead. Good Connections publishes 500 MHz for this line; the manufacturer does not publish a PoE class.

Key Features

Cat 7 PiMF raw cable
Each pair sits in its own metal foil and the four pairs share an overall braid, giving strong crosstalk and EMI rejection in dense racks full of switches and power supplies.

RNS® latch guard
The moulded boot shields the RJ45 latch so it does not snag or break when cords are pulled through a busy cable manager — the main failure point of cheap patch leads.

Halogen-free, OFC conductors
AWG 26 conductors in 99.9 % oxygen-free copper under a halogen-free, low-smoke, flame-retardant jacket (IEC 60754-2 / 61034 / 60332-1) suit offices and server rooms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 8070R-005V a true Cat 7 cable?
The raw cable is Cat 7 S/FTP PiMF, but it is terminated with RJ45 plugs, which top out at Cat 6A. Treat it as a very well-shielded Cat 6A-class patch cord: it runs 10GBASE-T and everything below it.
Does it work with Cat 6 and Cat 5e equipment?
Yes. RJ45 is backwards compatible, so the 8070R-005V connects any Gigabit or 10 Gigabit switch, router, NAS or PC port; the link simply runs at the speed the two devices agree on.
What should I check before buying the 8070R-005V?
Length: at 0.5 m it is a rack or desk-side jumper. Colour: it is the violet variant, useful for colour-coding. PoE: no PoE class is published, so for PoE++ cameras or access points choose a cord with a stated 802.3bt rating.
Singular Expert Insight
Short Cat 7-raw jumpers like the 8070R-005V make sense when you are patching a shielded Cat 6A installation and want the extra pair screening plus the RNS latch guard. If you only need Gigabit to a desk, a Cat 6 U/UTP cord is cheaper and thinner. Pair it with our network switches for colour-coded rack patching.

Buyer's Guide

Buy it if
You patch a shielded 10 Gbps rack and want PiMF screening, an RNS latch guard and a halogen-free jacket in a 0.5 m length.
Skip it if
You need a published PoE++ rating, a slim cord for very dense panels, or longer than 0.5 m.
Also consider
Good Connections 8060-H Cat 6A S/FTP (RNS, halogen-free) or EFB EC020200 Cat 7-raw 1 m cords when you need more reach.
