This Rockstable module is a third-party 1000BASE-LX SFP transceiver coded as compatible with the HPE Aruba Networking J4859D (1G SFP LC LX 10 km SMF), carrying Gigabit Ethernet at 1310 nm over single-mode fibre for up to 10 km. It is a lower-cost alternative to the genuine HPE optic for Aruba/ProCurve switches that accept third-party transceivers.

Optically it follows the 1000BASE-LX standard, so the far end can be any LX 1310 nm module on single-mode fibre, whatever the brand.

Before you order: Some HPE Aruba platforms (e.g. CX 6200F/6300/6400/8320/8360/8400X) accept only specific genuine transceivers, and some ports are 10G-only. A third-party optic may be refused or show as unsupported there. Send us your switch model and firmware and we will check before you order.

What It Means in Practice

  • Use single-mode (9/125 µm) fibre with LC duplex connectors; one module at each end.
  • The far end must also be 1000BASE-LX/1310 nm — SX (850 nm) will not link.
  • Up to 10 km on single-mode fibre.
  • Third-party optics are not covered by HPE support; warranty claims go through Singular.

  • A 1000BASE-SX (850 nm) or BiDi module at the far end.
  • HPE switches or ports that enforce genuine-optic checks or are 10G-only.
  • Links longer than 10 km.
