Galaxy Watch Ultra 47 mm — 80 hours, and that changes everything
590 mAh · up to 80 h10 ATMLTE with eSIM64 GB · 47 mm
The SM-L705FZA2EUE is the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) in the 47 mm case, titanium gray, with 4G LTE and an embedded SIM. Its defining specification is battery: a 590 mAh cell rated at up to 80 hours with the always-on display off, against 40 hours for the standard Watch8. It has a 1.5″ Super AMOLED display at 480 × 480, 64 GB of storage and a 10 ATM water rating.
Compatibility — check before buying:
⭐ Eighty hours is the whole argument, and it is a bigger difference than it looks. Samsung publishes up to 80 hours with the always-on display off and up to 60 hours with it on, from a 590 mAh battery. The standard Watch8 is rated at 40 and 30 hours from 435 mAh. That is the difference between a watch you charge every night and one you charge twice a week — and it is what makes multi-day trips, long events and uninterrupted sleep tracking actually practical.
⭐ 10 ATM is a serious water rating. Samsung publishes 10 ATM in its specification table — twice the 5 ATM of the Watch8 range. Its own support material describes that as ISO 22810:2010, equivalent to 100 m for 10 minutes, alongside IPX8 and IP6X dust protection.
???? But it is NOT a diving watch, and Samsung says so directly. Samsung’s own support page for this model warns against using it during freediving, scuba diving or in fast-moving water. Any listing attaching an EN13319 diving certification to this watch is wrong — that certification belongs to the Watch Ultra2 (SM-L715), a different and later product. Swim in it, snorkel in it, take it in the sea. Do not dive with it.
???? It only works with an Android phone. Galaxy Watches do not pair with an iPhone at all. Full functionality assumes a Samsung Galaxy phone.
⚠️ The LTE needs an eSIM plan from your operator — check before buying. The watch has an embedded SIM, so a Cyprus operator must activate it, normally as a companion line sharing your phone number. If your operator does not offer smartwatch eSIM, the cellular hardware is inert. Without a plan it still works fully over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
⚠️ It is large and heavy: 47.4 × 47.1 × 12.1 mm and 60.5 g. Nearly twice the 34 g of the standard 44 mm Watch8, and 12.1 mm thick. On a smaller wrist it will look and feel like what it is — an outdoor watch. Try the size before committing if you can.
⚠️ No rotating bezel. Unlike the Watch8 Classic, the Ultra has no turning ring. It has a customisable Quick Button instead — though note that is Samsung’s feature copy rather than a specification row.
ℹ️ Where Samsung’s claims come from, and why it matters. Several well-known Watch Ultra specifications appear in Samsung’s product-page feature copy but not in its European specification table: sapphire crystal glass, Grade 4 titanium, IP68, MIL-STD-810H, 3,000 nits peak brightness, dual-frequency L1+L5 GPS and the Exynos W1000 chipset name. The specification table publishes only “1.6 GHz, 1.5 GHz, Penta-Core” for the processor and “10 ATM” for durability. These are Samsung’s own statements, so we repeat them — but we tell you which are specification rows and which are marketing text, because the two are held to different standards.

✓ Anyone frustrated by charging a smartwatch every single night
✓ Sleep tracking that does not compete with charging time
Key Features
590 mAh, up to 80 hours
Samsung’s published figures: up to 80 hours with the always-on display off, up to 60 with it on. The standard Watch8 is rated at 40 and 30. This is the specification that defines the product.
10 ATM water resistance
Twice the 5 ATM of the Watch8 range. Samsung’s support material describes it as ISO 22810:2010 — 100 m equivalent for 10 minutes — with IPX8 and IP6X dust protection. ⚠️ Not a diving rating.
64 GB of storage with LTE
Double the standard Watch8’s 32 GB, about 50 GB usable, with an embedded SIM. Enough music and enough independence to leave the phone behind entirely.
1.5″ Super AMOLED at 480 × 480
The same panel size and resolution as the standard 44 mm Watch8 — and larger than the 1.3″ of the Watch8 Classic 46 mm.
A full sensor set
Optical heart rate, electrical heart sensor, bioelectrical impedance, infrared temperature, accelerometer, barometer, gyro, geomagnetic and light sensors. ⚠️ No Hall sensor — there is no rotating bezel.

Singular Expert Insight
The Watch Ultra exists for one reason and it is a good one: you stop thinking about charging it. Eighty hours against the standard Watch8’s forty is not an incremental gain — it is the difference between a device that must come off every night and one that stays on through a weekend away, a long hike, or a week of uninterrupted sleep tracking. Everything else follows from that: 10 ATM instead of 5, 64 GB instead of 32, LTE so the phone can stay behind. What you pay for it, beyond the money, is size. At 60.5 g and 12.1 mm this is nearly twice the weight of the standard 44 mm watch, and on a smaller wrist it reads as a piece of outdoor equipment. That is a preference, not a flaw, but decide it deliberately. Two points of accuracy worth having straight. It is not a diving watch — Samsung itself warns against freediving and scuba, and the EN13319 certification people attach to it belongs to the later Ultra2. And several of its best-known specifications, including the sapphire crystal and the titanium case, are in Samsung’s marketing copy rather than its specification table. We publish them, and we tell you which is which. Browse our Samsung phones or our phone accessories.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a smartwatch you charge twice a week rather than every night, with LTE and a serious water rating, and a 47 mm case suits your wrist.
Skip it if
You use an iPhone, you want a smaller or lighter watch, you want a rotating bezel (that is the Watch8 Classic), or you intend to dive — this watch is not rated for it.
Also consider
A spare strap and a wireless charging pad. ⚠️ The Watch Ultra takes its own band types — Marine, Trail and PeakForm — so check any strap is listed for the Ultra rather than for the Watch8.
