The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (SM-F976BZKBEUB) is the top of Samsung’s folding range, in Graphite, with 12 GB of memory and 256GB of storage. Closed it is a tall, narrow 6.5-inch phone; opened it is an 8-inch tablet at 3,000 nits. It is the only Fold8 with a 200 MP main camera and a 3x optical telephoto, and it charges at 45 W.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The Ultra and the standard Fold8 are different shapes, not different sizes. This one is 72.8 x 158.4 mm closed — tall and narrow. The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 (SM-F971B) is 81.9 x 123.9 mm — wide and short. No case, screen protector or holster crosses between them, and the two are frequently mixed up because the names differ by one word. Note also that the Ultra shares its folded dimensions and its 215 g with the older Galaxy Z Fold7, so a Fold7 case may look right; check with us before assuming it fits. The rating is IP48: water immersion is covered, fine dust and sand are not. And no charger is included — Samsung recommends a 10–45 W USB PD adapter, sold separately.

The main display is QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 2,504 x 2,256, 422 ppi, 120 Hz adaptive, rated up to 3,000 nits with Vision Booster. The 6.5-inch FHD+ cover screen at 1,080 x 2,520 is a full-size phone in its own right, so the fold is a choice rather than a necessity.
200 MP and a real telephoto
A 200 MP F1.7 main with optical stabilisation and 2x optical-quality zoom, a 50 MP F1.9 ultra-wide at 120 degrees, and a 10 MP F2.4 telephoto at 3x optical zoom. This is the camera set the standard Fold8 does not have — that phone has 50 MP and no telephoto at all — and it is the main reason to pay the Ultra premium.

The Fold8 Ultra is the phone to buy if you want a folding screen without giving anything up. It is the only one in the range with a 200 MP main camera and a 3x optical telephoto, the only one with an 8-inch inner screen, and it pairs those with 3,000 nits, 45 W charging and a 5,000 mAh battery. Against the standard Fold8 the difference is not incremental: that phone has no telephoto and a 50 MP main, so the Ultra is where Samsung put the camera this generation. Two things worth knowing before you order. The Ultra and the standard Fold8 are different shapes — tall and narrow against wide and short — so accessories never cross between them, and the names are close enough that the wrong case gets ordered constantly. And the Ultra is dimensionally identical to the older Fold7, which means a Fold7 case might fit and might foul the camera island; ask us rather than guess. IP48 remains the honest caveat on every foldable: water yes, fine dust no. The rest of the range is in mobile phones, and cases in phone cases.
